What if instead of creating tank (or panzer) formations, Germany concentrated on building more trucks (and some half-tracks although not enough can probably built for the whole army) to fully motorise their army? How would their performance during the war have changed?

I can’t remember for certain but I thought germany had some pacific colonies prior to wwI
setting the huge logistical problem aside, what type of force would the germans have come up with ?
how effective would they have been if they clashed with the japanese?

In 1914, when WWI broke out, Germany’s Pacific Ocean colonial territories were quickly occupied (mainly by Australian and Japanese forces as I recall), so I guess the answer to your second question is “Not very effective.”

The great Admiral Maximilian von Spee did make plans to recapture the German Island of Samoa in 1914, but with his few sailors, armed as marines, he could do little to change the course of the Pacific. His best way to hurt the enemy was commerce raiding.
