Morning Worsham.
I think I was 8, or something like that.
I woke up to find Father Christmas (my grandad)had left me a castle at the foot of my bed. It was unpacked (and constructed) and there were hundreds of Airfix 1-72 scale soldiers in and out of it. Not sure how long I played in my room. -
At age ten, I got the G.I Joe, (2 1/2") action figures General mobile command vehicle. It could hold fifty men.
-
I remember being totally psyched about getting that transformer that was a cassette player with the cassette transformers that turned into birds or whatever… shockwave? was this its name? This was early 80s.
other than that, I remember getting Conquest of the Empire for Xmas and was very pleased.
-
Soundwave - I too had this toy and he was probably my all time favourite toy.
-
The autobots also had a version named blaster.
-
Looks like a “Rock’Em Sock’Em” offspring : )
-
Soundwave was so *#@&$#@ wicked he had like 3 series of flat cassette monsters that were a pterodactyl, fast cat, etc, that he deployed to accomplish various tasks and he programmed them with his deck.
Those toys were so cool b/c whenever he got in trouble he could drop screecher or whatever to delay the autobots in car mode while he made his escape.
Biggest drawback is a tape deck doesn’t really have a plausible way of moving about except to be carried or walk….

That’s why they call it a walkman. :) And Decepticons could fly!

@ABWorsham4 I saw this had a new post , so read it , meaning to post . Then read one that sounded like my best ever gift, only to realise it was me; that I was reading from 5 years ago!
Thanks for the reminder guys.
My 7 year old has been playing with my soldiers from the 70’s (the 1-29 scale ones ) for 2 years now. Makes me So happy to see .
My best friend , with whom I played those soldiers every week, died of a brain tumour when he was 14.
I thought of him yesterday. Funny how things come full circle. -
@witt Wow, that is a kingly gift.
-
@abworsham4 I know I was under 10 years of age. I received a nice bike. Parents were poor. Still means a lot to me.

@general-kromwell I have a Christmas like that. My mother had became single and been disabled. We had a tree and no gifts underneath. I went to bed hoping that Santa would come.
In the morning I had two ninja turtle action figures. I was so excited, I had been preparing myself for no Christmas.
Years later my mother told me the story, of how that came to be.

My girlfirend gifted me a ps5 for christmas last year.

Dang, hard to choose (really hope this doesn’t make me sound arrogant, but I don’t mean the comment like that).
This year was definitely a great selection.
I’m a huge fan of Lego and I got a great group of both old and new sets.
The 70594 Lighthouse Siege from Lego Ninjago was great. Probably tops the pre-2020 list.
I’m really happy I got the new 71427 Larry and Morton’s airships. That’s definitely a great gift. My favorite is probably 76423 Hogwarts Express
