ABH and Crockett36, (A+100) tutor game
-
Japan should progress much faster now that Russia is out of Siberia, China is essentially smashed, and there are no transports in the Pacific fleet.
-
Thanks. So you think if you had 42 ipc and you were playing yourself, you would conquer the axis (which is also you).
-
The bid to balance the game depends on the quality of player even when equally matched. Here are my guesses on what is fair.
beginner: Allies -20
novice: Allies +0
intermediate: Allies +20
Expert: Allies +40
Master: Allies +50?I played my last OOB game at Allies +42.
-
@arthur-bomber-harris that is valuable information.
-
listened to 9 pages of our game. Gibraltar really set me back. So in my new youtube wars i’m not forgetting G. Also liked the comments about the bid going to stop the usurpation of Yunnan.
This is the second tutor game in which more British fleet didn’t translate into big gains. Really a set up issue.
Surfer is quite a cautious fellow. My sub strat didn’t work. Where are my convoying subs?! I was also trying KJF, but went south. South is what I’m calling a attack of convenience for the Japanese. It’s like in chess. You feel great moving in with a forking move. 54 is like camping out on the other end of a forking move.
This side of the game I would go with mostly Russian and Chinese troops OR additional US naval units and go straight for sz6. i call it the Bering Strait ball buster.
-
I have my US moves. I will post tomorrow.

The fleets have joined! There was much rejoicing.
-
@crockett36 insert snarky comment about the futility of joint naval operations whilst Calcutta burns.
-
you have 7 aircraft carriers with zero transports in those fleets. There won’t be a W european beachhead until at least round 8 which is extremely late, and nothing happening in the Pacific until at least round 10.
Also, those subs in SZ6 will get annihilated next turn with minimal loss.
The USA units in Siberia won’t be able to make a meaningful advance as their supply chain is essentially cut.
-
Can you post what you would have done and then you can proceed with Italy? Thanks.

I would do something like this, preparing for an invasion of W Europe on Round 7. -
Egypt is going to fall next turn unless you get lucky. The Allies have no invasion force on either side of the map. The Axis is now earning more than the Allies and that won’t change for the foreseeable future.
-
and Australia likely will be captured on J8 if my math is correct.
-
-
The demise of the Atlantic fleet. The Pacific fleet likely is sunk on J7, straying within range of the mainland Japanese air force.
Call it a game, or continue playing?
-
@arthur-bomber-harris continue. I’ve a little more to juice to get out of this orange.
-
@crockett36 I’d also like to look at the luck balance for the game. The battles that turn were rather uneven. If you remember I wanted to provoke a fight with the German air force much earlier but was dissuaded. Now the Luftwaffe is out of control.
-
@crockett36 Fortunately I don’t need 91 anymore.

So interestingly enough, you said that most games the Allies lose Moscow & Calcutta. Neither have happened. My massive army is chasing yours. So something has gone right even if many things have gone wrong.
-
I’m not contradicting you only asking questions. My purpose was not to make the ME a stronghold. Next game that will be my purpose. This game I was trying to hold c & m. I have done that while profligately spending on shipping.
