• After VE day there was large tensions between the soviets and the western allies.  If Germany is taken by the US or UK then the USSR will become an axis player.  All allied units in soviet territories will be moved to russia for detainment(become POWs).  This would make the game a little more interesting and possibly could have happened if Berlin fell to the western allies.

If you wanted to play this out with your Friends in a quick game, it might be fun, you’d have to make up all your own rules though on exactly how you want to do it.

But… what about Japan? If it hasn’t been defeated?  Becomes a 3 way game?

  • if it could go three way there, you’d likely have Allies not wanting to take Berlin until they felt comfortable enough to turn on their former-allies, which would likely help Japan knife Moscow in the back…

  • This is just so-o-o-o fraught with issues…

What if Berlin falls in a fluke attack but is liberated at some point later?  There’d come a point in the game where I’d almost want to leave berlin empty and dare them to take it just to eliminate the eastern front, get a suddenly unthreatened Josef on my side and let Japan concentrate on crushing the americans.

And the Western allies lose all units in soviet territory? So basically a precondition of any Western allied attack on berlin is that they have to vacate soviet territory or willingly lose those units?

And what happens if the Soviets liberate berlin?  Is it german?  Are the soviets still axis?  Are the germans now western allies???

    And, and, and……

The game is just not structured to deal with changing alliances.

I understand what your saying, but a better way to have the game is make it three sided. If your playing AA50 The Axis Vicotry conditions should be 13 vicotry cities and Allies need 12 victories cities except now Russia is not part of the allies anymore and is on its own side where it needs eight vicotry cites to win, however the Russian player cannot attack the Allied players until the Axis player is down to only 3 victory cities and the allied player is not allowed to attack the Russia player until the Russian player has attacked them.

  • You could split the axis up the same way. Put Germany and Italy on one side while Japan is on the other. Both sides need 10 VC to win but can only attack each other when the allies are down to 4 VC. This would make the end gamee very tence and maybe even exciting.
