• Suddenly a couple of days ago, tripleA has started to crash. It just freezes and it is impossible to do anything else than press Ctrl > Alt > Delete to exit the program. No error messages. Just freezes.
I have removed and re-installed the program several times, but the problem is still there. Hope someone can help.

  • @Enigma
Hm… no error message, that sounds weird.
Can you please check whether you have a file “error.log” inside your TripleA-installation directory?
If yes please upload it here with your answer.

Also: Does that occur frequently? When does it occur? Is there something reproducible behind it?

Please indicate the exact Java version you have installed.

  • @Panther Hi Panther ;-)
I find no error.log in the installation directory (maybe I don´t know exactly where to look). The problem occurs in different times (f.ex. right when the programme starts up or - worse - after resolved combat, which means the round has to be replayedand) and sometimes not at all. I’ve just played a couple of rounds without the problem (after re-installing again).
I do not have Java on my PC other than what tripleA has installed.
I’m not a native english speaker and do not know the word “reproducable” - is it spelled correctly?

  • @Enigma
I’m not a native English speaker, either. Google Translate says that “reproducible” in Danish is “reproducerbar”.

I really need to know the Java version, so please do this:

    -Exit TripleA (shut down)
    -Start TripleA
-Start a new Local Game (any will do)
-When the game has started find the Menu Debug and then click Show Console
-When the Console has opened, click the button Properties
    -Then click Copy to Clipboard
    -Paste in this thread

In case TripleA crashes again during this procedure please try to repeat until it suceeds.

  • @Enigma I am from Germany, actually.

Regarding your issue I am afraid there is not much we can do about it. These versions of TripleA and Java have been running rock solid since November 2018 - without noticable crash reports. Those crashes that occurred have usually happened with an error report - so we had at least something to investigate in.

You can always safely install the latest pre-releases of TripleA from
    https://github.com/triplea-game/triplea/releases
next to the current stable version.

So you could give that a try and see if your problem continues to happen.
Note that your opponent would need a pre-release, too, as the save-games of 1.9 are incompatible with those of 2.0.

All I can say is that I had an unexpected similar crash some days ago - that never happened before, too. As this occurred only once I did not further care, but as you now report this, too, I will give the developers a note of this issue, maybe they have an idea that further helps.
    (cc: @redrum )

  • @Panther Thanks a lot. I’ll try that.
