I have to agree, especially with this one, really, what were you even hoping to accomplish? Nothing strategic in it at all, as Italians should be conserved for can opening or potential double attacks that are critical strategically. The key word here is strategic.

Well what I was worrying about was a beachhead being established on Greece. I was a little late to the party. I suppose there were other options but I didn’t like the idea of stacking Bulgaria much. I only had 4 German mechs in range (+1 Italian I suppose). Would have needed to land a bunch of planes.
The attack was 74% but even if it went bad, the Luftwaffe could have cleaned up the survivors.
You would have recommended stacking up Yugoslavia with both Italians and Germans and then using the Italians to can open any blockers? Might have been better but might still have been good enough to do mainly air attacks then retake with mechs, providing you can’t hold it.
Yes, stay calm and don’t panic. Call the big brother and just make sure you stack a territory that the brother can reach and you can open the one in between.
I now looked at the map. It appears to me that you could have easily stacked Buldgaria with 5 mech and a bunch if Italian and German fighters.
US had no attack at all and UK just 3 inf and 5 fig. Bring your 13 German mech in range, position the Luftwaffe and buy as many German planes you need to create an unbearable threat.
If this isn’t possible, buy ground instead of air and set up to kick them out the next turn.
Slight correction, US had 1inf 1mech 3ftr 1bomb. FWIW.
Didnt calc but sounds to me that 5 mech and 9-10 fig should suffice?

You have something here. I got agitated with my situation; I thought a Greece beachhead could swing the game against me. Even better though, plan for said landing. When the Allies moved into the med, I was really only worried about losing N & S Italy. It should have been obvious that if neither landing was on, that Greece would be the landing.
