    The curse of the Japanese bomber continues. This has happened to me before. AA gets 1 of 2 and then the sole survivor attacks the next turn and AA gets it. Shensi was a set back for Japan in China. But I can’t complain after China’s bad dice luck early in the game.

    Having ANZ build a CV was a smart move on your part. I’ve seen few players do so, and not so early. Its better offensively for ANZ planes to be on their own CV than on U.S. CVs. Giallo is still very lucky in my game with him. After I destroyed the Chinese fighter, he attacked 6 Japanese defenders with 7 Chinese infantry and lost only 1 infantry to my 4, before retreating.

    I can’t believe that UK has 33 ground troops in the Mideast, Iraq, Persia, NWP, and its only turn 5. Italy can’t match that production. In a few turns, UK will have Cauc fortified. In my experience, once Germ forces Russ to retreat to Moscow, and Germ doesn’t get stalled with Russ in Bry; Germ usually can generate enough cash to keep forcing its way to Moscow and/or south. China’s early loss in Yunnan, should have helped put pressure on India. But while I was able to SBR early with escorts from Yunnan, my usual curse of being shot down by AA, freed India to continue producing troops. And the battle loss in Shensi set Japan back further.

    Despite the terribly lopsided bad luck for the Royal navy and air force in Round 1, the Allies have been resilient. At this point, though, it’s not clear the Allies will have an easy time of it or will even win.

    I didn’t learn from me prior mistakes of keeping a big fleet in the south too long and the allies moved to Carolines. Only the planes from the southern fleet could reach. I could have moved the fleet to the Malaya naval base, from where the planes could have flown to Japan home waters. But I keep a DD at home for a blocker. Seems unfair to be able to stop an action with a single ship. But its also unrealistic for fighters in W. Coast to be able to fly to Japan home waters and land on a CV. Now I know why you tried for Guam, as that’s where my fleet planes could have landed on way back to Japan.

    I feel better about the German situation now. Freed up forces defending Italy and didn’t need to spend much additional on defending Europe. So was able to see you and raise you two on the fighter escort/interceptor arms race. Having 3 I.C.'s in Russia and lots of cash, allows me to match Russia’s troop production. Total Axis income and production exceeds Allied amount.

    I thought that the U.S. would go for the Italian army and the N. Africa N.O. before invading Europe. The Russian sub confirms that. But I had to prepare for invasion anyway. I went to the cost of building 2 fighters instead of ground troops and you abandon the fighter contest. Makes sense that you would build ground troops while you still had income. I foresee a big UK ground and air presence in the Cauc.
