ANZ attacked Hunan with 8 planes power of 28 and battle calc gave high 90’s odds of winning with 4 planes left. I only rolled 2, less than half of expected, and Japan rolled 3, average. So I retreated. I had even odds in Borneo and won with no losses. I would rather have won Hunan than Borneo. I was counting on Japan not being able to take back Yunnan.

When I attack with air only against ground troops, I usually only do so when I have enough planes to wipe them all out on the first dice round. That minimizes losses. Japan had high value units, tanks and a TB, so I was willing to take more losses.

The edit was because I accidentally said attack sub in sz16 with my sub. I submerged instead, but then couldn’t NCM. So I edited to move the sub that didn’t attack, to go to sz26.
