• Most people see attacking China and kill the fighter as job nr. 1

But in some rare cases, Japan dont attack China, and the fighter survive.

So as USA, what exactely do you do with China in this rare case ?

Japan’s forces in Asia are very weak early.  With an added 2 infantry and fighter, plus a bomber that you can send over, you have 4 inf 1 fighter 1 bomber on US2.  (You have to put US bomber in Archangel US1 and Russian infantry in Archangel R2; the Archangel infantry are used to trade Karelia on R3.)

If US goes KGF, you can use those forces to trade.  If US goes KJF, you can use those forces to trade or to reinforce a US1 Sinkiang IC while the US advances navy and air in the Pacific.

Either way, it’s a big pain in the butt for Japan.

Depending on the situation in the rest of Asia and the Pacific, I would consider an IC in Sink.  With some Russian Support it can stop or severly delay Japan’s drive toward Moscow.

Yes indeed you would, mr E.M., but what units would you in case purchase in that Sin IC ?

I guess maybe two fighters in US2 and infantry for the rest of the game, or a mix of fighters and infantry, maybe with some tanks and a bomber in late game ?

Or it might be a Boobietrap, imagine I let China live as a bait, just to lure US to build me a factory there. Then I do so on and so forth, you know, and then I have a factory for free, you know that man, come an B.P.W. gimme a breake man.

But in case you dont get fooled and dont build that factory, where would you move your China fighter ? Dont think, just answer fast.

My OP didn’t say you definitely build a China IC with US if Japan doesn’t take Sinkiang on J1.  My OP said you have options.  And it’s easy to know what to do with China fighter.  Trade in Asia, or head towards Pacific for KJF or Africa for KGF, or do both (trade then head out).

If the China fighter survives, that means Japan’s Asian ground forces were destroyed.  That’s a major set back for Japan and makes KJF\SJF very attractive. A US Naval build and IC in Sink will cause Japan fits.  If the UK fleet had consolidated and they still own India, an IC there is viable also.  It’s tricky though, Russia will have to provide support at first while keeping the Germans at bay.

  • We’ve come a little way since the OP, but I’d like to remind posters that the OP asked what happens when Japan doesn’t attack China in the first place - not what happens when Japan attacks China and fails.  It is a pretty big difference.

Mollari’s post is pretty dead-on, I think, if Japan attacks China and fails.

  • FYI, I just want to know what most allies do with the freekin fighter if it is still there on US1, I dont care why it is still there.

Well, the last time the Japs left me a fighter around China, I used that fighter to smuggle black market Scotch whiskey in from the coast.  The boys appreciated our Chinese hosts’ hospitality, but all that rice wine just leaves something to be desired, you know.

I mean, okay.  Maybe the fighter was also involved in the 1943 “Monkeys Over China” incident, but that was just me and some guys being drunk, it wasn’t really a multinational effort like the whiskey running operation.

  • If the fighter(s) is not taken out, the obvious choice is to land it in sinkiang to back up the usa IC. It can even allow for some swapping of china which can really stall the japan advance. You still can bring in the bomber for that but every bit helps.

Happened to me a couple of time when i was forcing Japan hand by landing a UK and Russian fighter in China while keeping a strong india with UK aviation in moscow and having Russia mass in Buratya, making sure to sink the japan transport on UK turn ( destroyer + fighter).

Sure japan can jump on the ocassion to kill 2 extra fighters but it means a lot of casualties and going in very heavy, leaving both manchuria and French indonesia wide open and maybe even not doing pearl habor. In all games i did that, even losing china and the fighters, it spelled a very weak Japan fighting to retake it’s coastland. Most of the time, Japan will not attack and will consolidate instead for round 2.

    2 inf 3 fighter (1 US 1 Russian 1 UK)

    vs

    6 inf (1 infantry discretionary reserve) + 3 fighter 1 bomber

Sounds good to me for Japan.  I would hit that puppy big-time.

Of course, that does mess with the forces for Pearl.  But if you can clear the Russian fighter, that is SO SECKSY.  Maybe I would go Pearl heavy or ignore Pearl, but that Russian fighter . . . mmm.  UK fighter too, it’s like whipped cream on top and stuff.

Depending on the situation, one move could be to pull back the fighter to Caucasus and land the E. US fighter and bomber on Algeria (if the brits have landed there beforehand). Afterwards you can use the 2 fighters + 1 bomber to take out the G med fleet if Egypt/Jordan is still on UK hands.

I like to put the surviving US fig in Bury with a 5 or 6 inf stack from Russia. On US1 the Hawaii fig, the WUS fig and the EUS bomber can land there also. That’s 3 figs and a bomber for US2!

If Japan choses not to attack China, for some reason, then pull back everything to Sinkiang.

If Japan attacked and LOST resulting in the fighter surviving, I like to pull the fighter out to assist with Russia. (Hell, that’s another fighter to add to the Americans task force when sinking the German fleet in the Med.  Now I have 4 fighters and a bomber instead of 3 fighters and a bomber to attack with on Round 3.)

  • I do one of two thigs depending on who I am playing.

    1. Pull all US forces back to Sinkiang.

    2. Push all US forces to India to support the UK IC (this would be more likely if Japan built an IC in FIC)

  • LT04,

I think you have the Classic map in mind.  Sinkiang and China are NOT adjacent to India in Revised (the uncrossable Himalaya territory is between them).  As such the USA INF cannot reach India unless they move through either FIC or through Kazakh and Persia.

  • It has been a wile since I have played Revised.  Can’t the US FTR go to India through FIC if it survives?  I didn’t think that air units followed the same land movement rules.

  • The FIG could reach India, but the INF are several turns away.

  • I always try to protect India. If G.B can bring up forces from Australia; places a industrial complex in India and survive the first attack from Japan G.B has a base to fight in the East. Otherwise all is lost in the East and Moscow is faced with a threat from both sides. This is a gamble, it will either win or lose the war.
