    Funny, the “friendly dutch” was one of the best pieces of insight I got from reading this site…and long-time players at our last club game on Saturday also debated it… Do you have to activate (liberate) the island at all…cant you just land there without liberating it? Geez…

    Hi Simon,

    It’s always hard to read tone over the Internet, but I feel kind of attacked here by your comments. In just the first two turns, you’ve told me that I’ll regret not attacking the British fleet, you suggested that my G2 Sea Lion attack was too risky, and you’ve implied that I totally missed a pretty basic counter-attack (SZ 92 -> SZ 110).

    If you scroll up a bit in the thread, you’ll see that I already mentioned the SZ92 -> SZ110 attack, and that I wished I had moved the German destroyer forward to block the naval part of that attack, instead of moving the DD into combat to protect against a scramble in London. I also pointed out that you could move your Med fleet back to defend London, but that bringing the Med fleet back north would allow me to take Egypt – as I just did.

    What’s going on here, anything? Did you not see my comments earlier in the thread? Are my strategies so sub-optimal that you’re not having fun? Maybe there’s no real problem; sometimes I’m overly sensitive. I just thought I’d check in and see where you’re at.

    Sorry, don’t mean to be rude but I am confused by a couple of moves. I don’t understand what the move to SZ54 was trying to achieve. You were unlucky in that battle so maybe you were expecting to win a counter attack but it was pretty expensive bait. Surely the calculator told you that you couldn’t hold SZ110 but you went ahead and mobilised a transport there.

    I suppose you’re right that the extra transport would have been better put in the Baltic Sea – honestly, I was kind of bummed about losing in London and probably wasn’t thinking 100% straight for the noncombat part of G2.
