Sorry took so long. Moving land units from FIC>4 trans in a single sz and then allocating them to 4 separate destinations was difficult and tedious. I had just enough land units and trans to attack everywhere, and air support, but lost 2 battles where the land units were equal. Hong Kong had 6 figs support, but Bri rolled 2/2. Also lost an unnecessary battle vs Rus mech and used up a unit from Yunnan that I should have kept there. I miscalculated when planning and found I couldn’t support Celeb amphib with air, but succeeded anyway. Deciding where to place my fleets was tedious to consider all the counterattacks and protect the most trans. ANZAC has 4 air and a fleet and the sz are irregularly shaped. So must consider all the various routes they can travel to reach my fleets. I made one mistake that I know of in selecting where to attack with which ships. The massive, simultaneous attacks were possible because of Japan air power. It supported the meager land units and forced Rus army to retreat, which allowed Japan to use the Manchurian inf and figs elsewhere. Earn 60 PU!

When playing Europe 1940 with Colt, I went thru alternating periods of joy and confidence to despair. I think Global Bal Mod will be the same. It’s far too early to celebrate, it’s only the 1st quarter of the game. UK Pac has been dealt a blow to its income, but it already built up a sizable defense in India that will take time for Japan to counter. ANZAC and USA are safe. Japan advantage now is it sank all UK Pac and ANZAC trans. Japan is stretched thin, but 60+ PU per turn will change that. Can Ita expand fast enough to shrink Bri and threaten Rus? Japan can’t race thru China with garrisoning requirement and the Pac allies.

Wow. I thought Haw was 4 spaces away, I didn’t see the northern route. I didn’t know that the Kami only attack warships not trans. If the Japan sub had stayed in sz 6, the trans couldn’t have attacked without fleet support, which would have triggered Kami. So Japan success would not have been so great if it had garrisoned homeland with troops or kept one fleet home. On the other hand, I didn’t realize that Japan could have attacked Haw from Japan in one move. Japan finally increased its cash and now its gone and USA has it. Don’t know if I can recover. I had wanted the Ger trans to go to W Afr and activate Vichy and take Bri terr on the next turn. But I forgot that the Japan DOW activated USA. Besides, I didn’t send dd to escort the trans.

Ita needed to use 1 tran to reinforce Egypt against Bri tanks in Africa and RAF, so only used 2 trans against TransJ. All land units died. so was unable to control Suez and thus couldn’t move sub thru Suez into Red Sea. Bri still has formidable force in Afr/Mid East. In perhaps our first Europe game with you as Axis, you took London, but Bri had sufficient existing units to hold back Ita and Allies finally won despite never retaking London. Alas, I doubt that the loss of Japan can result in an Axis win.

After it was too late, I realized that Japan should have taken Malay dd with a dd instead of sub, in order to prevent UK Pac from hitting the trans in Borneo. Or used a dd and sub.

I should be able to move in couple hours. Im still heated over that game that i lost despite holding london. So many dumb moves as Italy that game. Im not sure if Jpn will be able to effectively recover but it will certainly hurt not being able to build land units in Man. and FIC to progress in and garrison china.

A quick tip: SZ16 is great place for Japan to shipblock attacks on the capitol. One destroyer works wonders. SZ25 is a great place for the US to shipblock attacks on Hawaii. Often these blocking units are easier than trying to defend from a big attack. In many games, Japan is trading blocking units back and forth with the US. The Allies come out slightly ahead in the exchange, but it still can be worth it for Japan.
Another comment: don’t try to stop landings with a sub. An escort could come with the transport, allowing troops to move off the transport. The escort could decide not to initiate combat and you would not have the option to use kamikaze attacks.
