So after trying a few times to get the FMG poker chips and the base set being sold out....I decided to make my own. I realized after watching a few videos on IPC customization that that you could not get a set and call it good....you needed more.

I can get these chips made at a cost of a dollar a chip + shipping and viola you have chips at your own denominations that you desire.

I made a 120 chips for my use...and I am positive 100% that I will not run out during a game.

Denominations are 1, 5, 10 and 20

front is my design and the back from Siredblood. I was given permission by him to use the numbers.

I think this is great, but I also think you should keep you IPC chips system as close as possible to the current A&A color coding system of the stacking chips. The A&A chips system is, light grey is 1, green is 3 and red is 5. Blue as 10 and yellow as 20 is nice, and I think the A&A company should add this chips to the game, so we dont run out of chips during a long game. When you mix the colors like you did, some players will get confused, you start mixing your green stacking chips, that has a value of 3, with your green IPC chips, that are worth 1. You see the problem ? Now, get ;your system streamlined and I might buy a set, man. And, thank you for your effort on improving our game  smiley

Hello Narvik....These are for income, not stacking
Alternative money, they are OOB colors on the paper money that was given in the past.

When have we been sold out? (Also, FMG does not do and never has done IPC's; we do .. just to clarify)

Good on you though! This is exactly how ours began; with one of the guys in the group making some with chips he had bought for poker and printable stickers.

arrgghh....I tried to get the chips you mentioned at iwngu but couldn't get the check out page to do anything. so I just ordered 2 sets of the greenbacks American themed poker chips for 16.oo dollars a piece and  two 5 row poker chip trays for 5.00 dollars apiece.  full set on each side of the table. not as good as yours look but cheaper. if I had seen yours first I probably would have got them instead. nice looking a&a on the back. good job on them.

This happens occasionally (have yet to figure out the source of the issue because it's fairly rarely reported). If that happens we can always accommodate through custom invoicing.

Odd. We've had them in stock for well over a year (except for a very brief period last week where our stock level was showing 0 when we had 6 in stock).

Time for me to check out our web store software I think..

Help me understand all - what is the obsession with using chips instead of the good old paper money?  Is it the fear someone is going to grab an extra 5 or 10 and since it is a stack of paper money the other team will not notice?

I think the work on these is amazing!  I just grew up on the paper money and think I'd have a hard time transitioning.

At issue is the fact that the A&A games that are the "current crop": A&A 1941; A&A 1942, Second Edition; A&A Europe 1940, Second Edition; A&A Pacific 1940, Second Edition; and A&A 1914 - none of these games come with money already provided by Avalon Hill. So, how do you keep track of IPC levels? Book-keeping: keep a running tally for each country on a sheet of paper.

Some people like just keep a tally on paper. Some people didn't like that idea. At which point, two paths diverged:

Path A) Paper money is the way to go! At first, they raided their earlier games. Later, they printed their own A&A Money. HBG sells what they call Battle Bucks - 120 colored bills, in multiple denominations, for $10 US.

Path B) Poker chips are the way to go. At first, just normal poker chips. Mostly the plastic kind, but because of the rise in popularity of the Texas Hold 'Em style of poker around the same time there were people who owned ceramic poker chips, like what you would see at a casino. These were also used, and they were considered to be quite stylin', as money stand ins go. To which, the chips from IWillNeverGrowUp are the logical conclusion: A&A themed ceramic poker chips.

And now you know.

Paper money is all well and good but some people just simply prefer the feel, look and sound of poker chips over paper money. Plus, everything Midnight_Reaper mentioned above!

I have been keeping a written record for every game but am looking to switch to the poker chips soon. The reason I am looking to do this instead of paper money is the durability. The cardboard boxes for these games are already looking rough after enough use. I don't want to buy the paper money and end up with crinkles and tears. The chips seems like a better long term option

I like them for their durability, small footprint on the table in front of me, and the fact that I can use them with one hand. Paper money requires 2 hands to count out from the bank. With chips I can count my money and still drink a beer at the same time.
