@nubnumber1 just like a fighter unit in A&A is meant to represent many aircraft, think of a destroyer unit representing a group (flotilla I think is the term) of destroyers.Military history has many examples of small, yet determined, forces delaying the progress of larger forces. eg 101st airborne in Bastogne dec 1944
SZ 37 and Siam

In alpha 3 there is a UK battleship in SZ 37, directly south of the Japanese controlled Siam. Is this an automatic deduction to the Japanese income?

Just realized that they’re not at war

Technically they can be if J1 declares war and doesn’t clear out the BB… but then again I don’t see much benefit from a J1 DOW.

Also, the UK could actually declare war on Japan UK 1, which would result in them convoy raiding Siam for -1 IPC on Japan’s next turn. However, UK declaring war would not bring USA into the conflict and would allow Japan many more possibilities against UK and ANZAC before the US could help them. Not a good idea just to take 1 IPC from Japan.

Also, in Alpha3 it’s a roll of a dice, so it’s possible that the battleship will roll above a 3 and not even deduct the value of Siam (1).
