USA taking South America

Thanks so much for your reply. I will tell a bit about the background of my question. We played Axis and Allies 1940 Europa a number of times, in the beginning the Axis player could still surprise the Allies player with a new strategy now and then, but at the end we had a ‘solution’ for every Axis strategy, and the Allies always won. So, we were looking for ways making the game a little more balanced, and as a result we wondered whether Russia and USA actually have a turn before they are at war. But after reading your response, I must admit that there still Axis strategies to try and hopefully our games with become a little more exciting:)

Is different in Europe stand alone.
You get 20 for East and Central US.
And 5 for SE Mexico, Central America and West Indies.

I usually figure half and hour to an hour per round as long as players have a concrete idea of what they want to accomplish and plan during other people’s turns.  So, the fastest game of Europe I have had so far was this last weekend, at 4.5 hours and 5 rounds.

It’s not that hard to roll dice. For example, to roll 2 infantry, a tank, and a bomber, you’d type : aaa 2@1 1@3 1@4 : without the spaces

Perhaps if my computer and board were in the same room I’d be willing to do it, but since they aren’t I would have to write all the rounds down on paper and THEN type it out on the computer.  I’ll probably just wait till my friends can get together to play it in person.  Unless there is someone out there willing to play an email game without all the rounds of combat being shown?

I think the +6 IPC is worth more for Italy then for the USA. Going from 20 to 26 is relatively better then from 82 to 88.

These sound like really neat house rules. If the allies seem to win too many games over here we will probably use them. Potentially turning all of north africa over to the germans.

Tons of fun stuff with the french. Imagine the germans being able to move french soldiers around africa but the french turn back allied first time normany is landed in!

I play a bit of War At Sea as well. Reading the back of the french cards is entertaining. Ships escaping port and german capture with unfinished guns. Ships firing at americans landing in africa.

Heck, am i remembering right that the british landed in madagascar to liberate it from the french? Wasnt the HMS Barham or the Ramilles or some other old battleship there?

They are totally owned by the british.

In the global game the Anz will still get their own turn though, right after UK. It will be a self sufficient minor power. I know the Anz were considered part of the English commonwealth, but I could see the UK or US player having control in the game. The US will probably run the show in the Pacific being that they will be the major ally there.

I am still pissed off about Canada  :-P

At least they don’t ever get gaptured, unlike India.

I would say they definitely have won, except some terrible Axis player might actually consider it a good early war strategy.
