Does anyone know how to get a copy of Don’s ORIGINAL 3rd essay? The abridged version on www.fresservers.com only contains the first two parts (see the outline on freservers.com). Years ago I read the full thing, but can’t find it these days. It talked about getting the Japanese fleet into the South Atlantic, how to analyze when to use it to deter South Africa, when to dare to attack Brazil, thoughts on a submarine-producing Industrial Complex in the South Atlantic, and even considerations regarding the use of Germany’s first (alternate) turn purchase of a bomber?!, along with other air units, to coordinate with Japanese fleet. I wish I had saved a copy! Can anyone help me find it?
3rd Edition?
-
Hello,
I am a former player of Axis and Allies, but I have not played in a few years. I was told by a friend of mine that there is now the 3rd Edition of Axis and Allies. I started to do some research, including checking at this forum, and the only thing I seem to find is a reference to the rules for 3rd edition being on a CD-ROM. But my friend is adament that there is a new board for 3rd edition, because of changes to France and China.
Can anyone elaborate for me? Is my friend just smoking something?

I think he is smoking something. From what I know, third edition refers to the rules for the CD version of the game.

Third edition refers to the CD Rom Game.
The changes to France and China are part of the expansion pack called “1939 World at War” by Xeno Games. In the Varrients forum here there are several discutions on this expansion. The expansion adds a new board which has more territories and adds France and China as independant nations.
