@Colonel-Mustard Yeah,7 out of 8 times you would’ve been able to retreat as planned. Some famous military guy once said"No plan survives contact with the enemy"If USA and UK were going hard after normandy and denmark, that should give Italy a chance to grow strong and help stop the western allies.
#1 rule Always protect your capitol.

Is the Italian occupation of Ethiopia going to be represented in this game? (the portal for Italy in India!)
If so, won’t that cause major headaches for ANZAC?
Sorry, I did a search, couldn’t find anything. Sorry if this is a repeat

It would have to be Italian controlled but worthless ( no IPC value) at start. I think perhaps it could have one infantry at start, but probably not.

I vote yes…Abbysinnia should be a country, but, no Canada should not.

Are you serious? We’re not talking separate powers here.
-
I retract my vote then.

This would make sense… considering the Italians were there in 1940-41. Also remember that Germany will have no units in Africa or the Med so it will be Italy vs UK for the first few turns only.
-
Seems like the game logistics of getting German units into Africa would make it more trouble then it’s worth, and I hate giving up on Africa as the Axis.
-
much like in the real war the Germans won’t have to bother with the Russians or the Americans for at least a few turns, and if invading England is impractical then Africa may be the only place it can hit back against the Allies
-
I guess a Vichy IC could make the germans enter in the Mediterranean
-
is any body really going to invest in north africa when they need to crush France, Britain and prepare for :?
-
Success in Africa takes IPC’s away from the UK and gives the allies something else to do besides prepare to invade Germany. It’ll be intersting to see how the game is set up.
-
They’ll probably put a German transport in the Mediterranean at the start for balance purposes.
-
i agree that would be fair but if not maybe their will be an indestry in south france.

no units in Med, naval or land ;)
and probably no IC either -
when italy declared war their plan was to cut off the land route south from cairo to south africa (with the forces in ethiopia), blockade the suez canal, and choke egypt into surrendering.
There is a lot more area there to cover than the italians were capable of doing.
-
The problem with Africa was that the Germans counted on Italians and Vichy french to actually put up a good fight. :-D

But look how that turned out
-
I guess the Germans never heard the saying, “If you want something done right, then do it yourself.”
-
I have no problem about Germany being dependent on the italian navy to put forces over to Africa, as in real life. This would also make it taking a few turns to get the Africa corps over, and to take out Egypt. It should need some effort to roll over Egypt before the americans enter the war.
