About Axis & Allies .org
Axis & Allies .org is the largest and oldest online community of Axis & Allies players, founded in 2000.
How It Started
It all began in 8th grade when my friend Roland showed me his dad’s custom relief map with Axis & Allies set up on it. We learned the rules that day and were instantly hooked. Throughout high school, my friends and I played nearly every Friday for four years.
In college, when the web was still relatively new, I started looking for Axis & Allies resources online. I found a few good sites but thought there should be more—more strategies, alternate rules, and ways to connect players. So I built my own site in February 1997 and hosted it on the college’s student web server.
I purchased the domain axisandallies.org in July 1998 and officially launched the site in January 2000. Back then, hosting a website wasn’t simple—there were no AWS or DigitalOcean. I had to find friends who had their own dedicated servers.
Building the Community
What started as a collection of strategies and resources evolved into something much more. As players found the site, they wanted to connect with each other—to discuss strategies, share house rules, organize games, and simply talk with others who loved Axis & Allies as much as they did.
The forums became the heart of axisandallies.org. Players from around the world gathered to debate optimal opening moves, share epic battle stories, welcome newcomers to the game, and build lasting friendships. What began as my personal project became a true community, shaped and sustained by the passionate players who made it their home.
Today
Over 25 years later, axisandallies.org continues to serve the Axis & Allies community with active forums, strategy articles, house rules, game resources, news, and our popular battle calculator. We cover everything from Classic to the latest releases like North Africa.
Whether you’re a veteran player who’s been with us since the early days or just discovered the game, welcome to the community.
