Board Games and Accessories

A great for an Axis & Allies player is more Axis & Allies games. Here are a few recommendations.

  • Axis & Allies Spring 1942, Amazon, $26.22
This is the latest update to the basic Axis & Allies game and it has only been available since August. If you are giving to a wargamer that does not have this version, get it. Alternatively, this version is the perfect introduction to the world of Axis & Allies and is great for the first time player.
  • Axis & Allies Pacific 1940, Field Marshal Games, $79.99
This will be the newest installment of the Axis & Allies board games and is a must have for the die hard A&A player.
  • Axis & Allies Guadalcanal, Amazon, $25.00
A few years old but still a great two player version of the game that employs different game mechanics for refreshing new game play. Games also typically take much less time, no more than 4 hours.
  • Axis & Allies Battle of The Bulge, Amazon, $25.00
This another version of A&A that has a great alternative rule set that plays a little bit like a miniatures game. It also plays fast but not quite as fast as Guadalcanal.

If you're shopping for an Axis & Allies player that already has all of the games and already pre-ordered Pacific 1940, then consider some gaming accessories.

  • Combat Dice, Field Marshal Games, $5.99 to $24.99
These are World War II themed dice that were created specifically with Axis & Allies in mind. The "one" on each die show the WWII symbol of a particular country. I really enjoy my set.
  • Dice Tower, Field Marshal Games, $40.00
If you're tired of the dice going all over the board and all over the house than consider a dice tower. Just dump your dice into the dice tower and no mess.
  • Dice Tray, Amazon, $16.29
If you want something more portable than a dice tower, then a dice tray might work well for you.

If you want a change of pace from the Axis & Allies gaming world you can try giving some other World War II or other strategy games listed below.

A&A Boardgame News

It's been a while since we have reported any Axis & Allies news but over the next few days we'll be reporting more news both new and old as well as good and bad. First, let's start with some exciting news. On Tuesday, July 29 on the Harris Game Design website Larry Harris himself informally announced the next two Axis & Allies board games. The games will be Axis & Allies Europe 1940 and Axis & Allies Pacific 1940. Sources (read as speculation for now) say that these games are due to be released next year for the 65th anniversary of the ending of the war. This poses the question, willthe Europe game will be released on VE day and the Pacific game be released on VJ day?

We even have some details about the game. The questions/requests below were asked by Imperious Leader (IL) and answered by Larry Harris (LH).
