In a recent family game of A&A revised, we ended up in stalemate. All the players bought enormous amounts of infantry, which resulted in defensive positions so strong that no one could attack. We would like to change the rules so we do not have a stalemate in the next game. Do you have any suggestions?
One possibility would be to play to minor victory, 8 cities. (We usually play so 10 cities are a victory.) Problem is, I don’t see any way that the Allies could win that way.
Another suggestion would be to limit the amount of infantry a country can buy in one turn. Do any of you have experience playing with such rules?

Don't change anything, build some Artillery with your infantry.  Now you're almost as strong on attack as defense.  That means you can attack infantry stacks (maybe only a few rounds to shrink them and not take the land) and withstand infantry attacks on you.

8VC is doable for the allies you just have to think outside the box. It forces the allies to spread out more and makes the game more balanced that way. You could always add a rule that states that the axis need to keep 8 VC a full turn +1 country so all your countries have 1 chance to counter.

Stalemate is not that bad though just go around it. Mop up Japan in asia first those islands cant be defended properly then with the huge income bonus germany will fall sooner or later just attack after eachother and do strafing runs to deplete his inf. At some point you come to a point where you can destroy more inf then he can build and then you eventualy win.

Or, don't let your opponent build such a large stack!  Harassment is the name of the game in that scenerio.  Hit and run raids (straffing) and go around the stack instead of directly attacking it are the tactics you might want to explore.

Attack more. Changing the victory condition would be a start. The Allies can win but they can't grind it out in Europe. But the best way is to attack more. Don't fear defeat. It is only a game gosh darn it. Get some offense and get attacking.
