  • Thanks!  I don’t think I’ve ever managed to keep the sub in SZ106 alive before, so I’ll be interested to see if it plays any part in the game to come.  Also, this is a learning experience for me, so I’m curious to know your thoughts about my G1 carrier purchase, your subsequent scramble, which left Britain mostly defenseless, and whether a G3 Sea Lion can work with a G2 purchase of transports.

    Britain starts with $28, so could buy a maximum of 9 infantry; stacking 4 infantry, 1 mech, and additional 9 infantry in Britain. Germany has $82, and could buy 11 transports to send in 11 infantry and a mix of tanks and mech infantry from France with its air force against the defending 13 infantry and tank.

    Doing so would prevent a Russian offensive since everything went west instead of east…so Russia would have a couple of turns to get stronger.  I’ve never tried a Sea Lion, and the forum threads I’ve read around here say that its always a mistake…presumably because its too easy for the US to retake it when they enter the war?  Or because it gives Russia the opportunity to become too strong for Germany to neuter before the US can mount a serious European invasion?

    tacticals cannot bomb factories they can bomb air and naval bases though.

    I should have goten an intercept for your bombers but since you also did not go for the tacticals lets just ignore that detail :D

    I didn’t ask if you wanted to scramble there because I’d read in the forums here never to scramble against SBRs because its rolling ones all around and can cost fighters for no tactical gain, so I assumed you wouldn’t want to.  Would you like to revert and scramble?  It’s my bad assumption.  I figured you were going to want those two fighters guaranteed intact for the coming Sea Lion.

  • The PBEM in TripleA keeps giving me an error message that the last posting from my IP address was less than 15 seconds ago, even if its been 10 minutes, or an hour, or 12 hours.  I’m curious if you’ve run into that yourself?

    Also - based on the conversation above, I was assuming you did want to scramble, so I scrambled you against me in India, and we both whiffed against each other - I was going to finish the turn, save it, and then wait for you to decide, and you posted moments later.  Ultimately didn’t make a difference.

    My yunnan battle didn’t go well, and I suspect Japan is running out of steam on the mainland there faster than I should be - especially with your positioning to counterattack everything I just did.  I guess we’ll see what happens in your second turn here.

    I don’t see any way to add a file to my post, so I just had to retry a bunch of times.


  • In case you were curious -

    I usually declare war on the second turn; the guide I was following (as I mentioned) is a J2/I2 war.  Since I’ve never tried SeaLion and am this time, it doesn’t seem wise for Italy to do a second turn war with no German backup, and the math on your Hawaiian fleet vs. my Caroline fleet didn’t look good; I was going to roll my Caroline fleet down to Queensland to kill that cruiser and destroyer (since the guide for my J2/I2 war says to clear the south pacific of stray enemy ships in J2 and J3) but I don’t want to be out position to get back to defend Japan, so I felt kind of stuck there.

    What would you have done in my shoes?


  • Scrambling and kamikaze from Japan?  I didn’t declare war on the US, how are you warring with me?  Which is why the Caroline Island fleet is there and not in Japan.


  • Which is also why my airforce went to Korea instead of staying in Japan, and also why I didn’t declare war on the US and take the Philippines.
