So, part of me wants to scramble the maximum and take a bunch of you with me. But I’m looking at the board and you sent your aircraft carrier along - which suggests you intend to take the hits on the carrier and one boat and then likely land your birds with the AA gun and soldier on Malta.
I probably let this happen by not placing a third German fighter in Italy. So, fire away. My planes are grounded due to a lithium battery issue. No scramble. With a little luck you lose the carrier.

The main reasons to attack 97 in force like that is to get the Italian transport…and draw out their air power for a chance to take them out. Most players will land a German fighter in South Italy and scramble everything…that makes the UK’s chances of winning slim.
You still have the fighters for a counter-attack anyway…you just have to decide if you want to take out the UK or French. -

Hi - would like to get the last fighter back via Edit. I think it would have been legit move to exit the battle and let the fighter die. I didn’t get your OOL though, but based upon the few number of hits from your side, I gotta believe you would have kept your strongest defense. Sort of unpopular move, but I know a lot of people do walk away and let the fighters die post battle. what do you say?

You should ask for OOL in situations like that. If you did combat with a doomed fighter and lost one of your fighters then he’s gone.
Keep in mind that a carrier with only one hit cannot have planes land on it. So sometimes it’s advantageous to withdraw your attacking force and leave the carrier…you don’t get the carrier but you get the planes without risking any of your units.
Also…when you post your turn could you check the box for dice battles? That will show how many rounds of combat there were and how many hits there were each round. -
