It is Transformers by another name... same producers, same general story: alien machines, explosions, mind numbing action.
Looks idiotic to me.

It has to either:
Have some sort of redeeming script qualities since Liam Neeson is in it.
or
Be a total pile of dren with enough of a budget that they could throw so much money at Liam Neeson that he was willing to ignore how craptastic it is and be in it anyway.
