Sorry for the delay, the GF dropped by and we've had some issues recently. So she had priority.

Yes oddly enough sometimes gaming ain't the top priority.  rolleyes
Lurking deep below the surface (actually I hope at persicope depth so he can hit something) the British submariner has another set of priorities. Lets fire the second torpedo tube!

Nope, guess the whole crew was still celebrating not being depth charged to do anything productive.

I been starring at this map to and fro but I can't seem to find a path that could turn this game around. The axis have advanced to fast. It's been fun but I think it is time for me to throw in the towel. Good game.  smiley

Thanks, I think there are some minor things I could do to make this strat even better. I mean you kicked Italy's butt in the med and pretty much nixed any hope of me taking control of the med/egy. But overall I think this strat can be very viable, especially against someone who hasn't seen it before. The only question in my mind is can someone stop it if they're expecting it?

I'm trying to remember if it was this game or another game, but did I kill some transports off of sz91 or was it sz109? I think it was sz109. I'm having a hard time remembering since these games tend to run together. Allowing those to be sunk and then also killing my bb with your indian air were mistakes. The thing is, I probably would've done the same thing. And I didn't see it as a mistake for another turn or two before I'm like whoa, I can take India if I push on it and I won't have to give up a lot of air to do it either.

The thing is, I think I made some big mistakes either in strategy or some gameplay decisions. I think maybe I should focus more on helping the Italians out by flying an air down to the boot and trying to kill the cruiser in sz91. I don't know if the decision to scramble the Italian air w/out a German fighter was a smart decision either. Can you imagine a stronger Italy with this strat? Geez. I also meant to start bombing Moscow sooner, but I never really got around to it until the very end. I think that an effective bombing campaign could've crippled the Ruskies even faster.

My goal is to take Moscow and threaten in the pacific before US can become a pain. I had to move the IJN back a little, but I don't know if the USN can make enough headway in the pac before Moscow falls. Either Japan ties down the US in the pac, forcing them to commit tons of IPCs there, or Japan will be able to get the VCs they need for the win. I like it and I want to try it again. I'm starting up a triplea game, no bid. I guess the thing to do after that is see if an ss in the med or something else can tilt the game enough that the allies can win.

Yes the loss of trn's was in sz109 and as you pointed out while sinking the bb looked like a good idea it wasn't. But the real crux is the speed of the German advance and I'm not quite sure how to tackle that.

I do agree that attacking the sz91 cc may be a more viable target since it can help Italy and not telegraph the J1 attack even if it only affects Russia's turn. My attack on sz97 was quite limited due to having lost fighters to scramble etc so a third fighter in sita may not always do the trick.

While I haven't gotten around to it in any game strat bombing campaigns seems like a very cost effective at the moment and could certainly make taking Russia easier.

I forgot about the scramble and I think that's part of why I didn't ever get around to using my bmb as strat bombers. I didn't have the air I would've so I used them to trade terr, that and I didn't have the escorts to spare because they were holding down the fort in wgr or also trading terr.

Oh and not everyone is a big proponent of hitting sz97. About half the people in my play group don't seem to do it and another defending fighter might help convince them to look elsewhere. Still no one in the playgroup has tried a G1 Barbarossa before. We've seen some J1s, but those don't tend to work out since US doesn't have to worry about moscow falling for some time.
