Having been absent from AAA for almost two years I'm now trying out TripleA.

One question regarding Heavy Bombers:

In the description of the map (v1.4) it is said:

"HEAVY BOMBER- roll 2 dice for each bomber attack"

So how is this handled in this TripleA-map?

- use both of the results
or
- choose the best one? (According to the rules/FAQ)

Thanks for your help.

for the "choose the best one", please select the "LHTR Heavy Bombers" option in the game options menu, before you start your game.

if that option is not selected, it will use both rolls.

Thank you!

But isn't LHTR Heavy Bombers different in strategic bombing?

"LHTR Heavy Bombers

This property causes LHTR rules to be used for Heavy Bombers.

It causes the following behaviors:
During normal attack/defense, 2 dice are rolled and the best roll is the result
During SBR, 2 dice are rolled and 1 is added to the best roll to determine the result"

(quoted from http://axisandallies.wikia.com/wiki/LHTR_Heavy_Bombers )

The Rulebook/latest FAQ of the game does not include "+1" during SBR!

Thanks again  smiley

+1 damage during SBR is much more balanced,

but hey, Larry has always been terrible at balancing technology....

it is his one weakness

I've also been petitioning to move the "tech activation phase" to the end of the turn

Maybe you are right, I don't know...

But given the case that me and my opponent(s) agree on playing strictly compliant to the rulebook with the latest FAQ
you say that this can't be done using TripleA with that map?

Or is there a way?

Thanks again  smiley

LHTR = larry harris tournament rules

besides modifying the java bin, you will have to play by the rulebook + FAQ that is printed on the A&A website, or the LHTR rules

Yes, I know.

Ah, I now see what causes my confusion:
On the A&A/Wizards-Site there is an old FAQ (March, 20 2009)
http://www.wizards.com/AvalonHill/rules/AxAl-AnEd_Errata.pdf
that does not contain any Heavy Bombers changes.
So Heavy Bombers' rules are OOB rules.

My games usually are under OOB-rules with latest FAQ (February, 5 2010),
as to be found on Harris Game Design
http://harrisgamedesign.com/pdf/A&A_Anniversary_FAQ.pdf
Here Heavy Bombers are changed to "roll both and choose best"
(but without +1 on SBR).

So the TripleA map does not reflect the latest rules but a status prior to these.
Got it now. Thank you! Smiley
