ZScion conceded this game.  There was a naval battle at Gibraltar that went sort of badly for him . . .he lost close to his entire navy and airforce whereas he probably should have had at least his bombers left.  This prompted a discussion about the impact of luck in the game.

From my perspective the game was very close.  It felt like the allies were wearing him down, and yet he had cleared most of the economic gap.  Whether he would have been able to recover with the axis and regain the losses that Italy was taking we'll never know. 

Japan threatened to get a VC win, and this forced the allies to start spending in the pacific.

I was preparing to bring all of my us transports with subs into the pacific, in order to reinforce or retake hawaii as I thought that was the main threat as well.

Was also getting ready to build 10 subs on the w usa plus a couple of bombers, in case I needed them to retake Hawaii.  It looked to me like Sydney was going to hold however after the delivery of all of those fighters.
