I though friendly planes are only cargo during attacks?

check out "Air Defense ..." on pg 29 if you have the manual handy

Hmm I thought they were always cargo. What does it say?

"Whenever an undamaged carrier is attacked, it's aircraft (even those belonging to friendly powers) are considered to be defending in the air"

On pg 28 describing Carry Aircraft it reads "Air units on a friendly power's carrier are always treated as cargo on the carrier owner's turn"

In other words, those planes are only cargo during Germany's turn.  You can confirm this searching the forums for details on carrier mechanics.

Since you didn't know, I don't mind if you alter your US turn.
