Watching the updates on the war in Libya and hearing the names of cities like Benghazi, TOBRUK and Tripoli got me thinking of the 8th Army and the Africa Korp.

Have any of you had the same thoughts?

Looks like Gadhafi's forces are about to end the rebellion.

The rebels should have stacked all their infantry in one territory.

One difference between then and now is the fact that, during WWII, the name "Libya" was still fairly new.  Eastern Libya previously tended to be referred to as Cyrenaica, and western Libya as Tripolitania.  Even during WWII itself, the older terms sometimes still got used, as in General Alexander's letter of September 1943 to Churchill: "Sir, The Orders you gave me on August 15, 1942, have been fulfilled. His Majesty's enemies, together with their impedimenta, have been completely eliminated from Egypt, Cyrenaica, Libya and Tripolitania. I now await your further instructions."

Doesn't look like NATO is going to allow the rebels to fall. Hope France and Brittian take the reins on this operation soon before the U.S. gets blamed for something.

Why you asking me this?

Didn't do anything with your posts whatever they are.

I did remove the political posts but they were not yours anyway.
