Hi

One thing missing in Axis & Allies is the possibility to rail forces.
What about a Train Station cardbord counter?, territories with a train station cardbord counter could rail ground forces in the Non-Combat Movement Phase. Though only units that have not been used in combat, they also should have some sort of limit, both how many units they can rail, and territories they can rail through. What about 4. territories?
Or should it be, rail from one train station cardbord counter to another train station cardbord counter?
Or it should be limited to only original territories at the start of the game?
Anybody else got some thought about this?

Rail from one train station cardbord counter to another train station cardbord counter sounds good. Not sure on how many units to transport though.

Hi

I do have that game, and like the way rail movement works in World At War.
But would that way be the best for A&AE40 or A&A40Global? I do think there should be some limitations, how many territories you should be allowed to rail through, and how many ground units/capacity you can rail each round.

Railways would be a neat addition.

I'd say that railways should be able to move any land units up to 4 spaces, but only from railway counter to railway counter. In addition, they should only be able to move up to (3?4?5?) units per turn. However, this may unbalance things considerably.

Hi

Here is what I will do, You can rail as many Ground Units as you want in the Non-Combat-Movement.
But only units that have not moved. It is also restricted to territories you have owned in the beginning of your turn!
It is also restricted to the territories IPC value, a territory can only rail / receive the same amount of units as the IPC value!
A territory with IPC value of example 5, can rail up to 5 ground units or receive up to 5 ground units!
A unit can only rail through, up to 4 territories!, and they have to link.

Another way to solve this is that you can rail from/to territories that have a Major or Minor Industrial Complex.
What are you thoughts about this?, do you think railway should be included in the game?

That sounds like it could work fine.

ALL ground forces moved largely by rail between fronts.  They would "detrain" behind the front lines to move the short distances into battle under their own steam.  This is why the different movement values assigned to land units are so silly; the only difference should be armoured units ability to blitz/breakthrough.
There is really no need for Station Tokens, as practically every tt in the game likely to be used had rail facilities, though this may be restricted in areas such as the Chinese/Russian border, or parts of central Africa; even here rail lines could quickly be built if needed.

The rule can be very simple: unlimited movement for ground units between connected friendly land tts during NCM.  Why make it more complicated?  If the Allies can rail tanks from Cape Town to Stalingrad in a single move then the Axis really are playing like puddings.

The Terrain Pack in the Memoir '44 system has some train and rail markers that could work for AA. Here is a picture:  http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/107837/memoir-44-terrain-pack      the 2 at the top of the picture are the train tokens. And the picture here http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/107838/memoir-44-terrain-pack has an example of what some of the train tracks look like. They are on the bottom left and right.
