Tactical Bomber and Mech Infantry come back?

  • Will these units come back in future Axis and Allies?

  • Yep.

  • @UN:

    Yep.

    How do you know?

From the Wizards of the Coast site:

So what’s new in Axis & Allies Europe 1940? First of all, if you already own Axis & Allies Pacific 1940 – nothing is really new in terms of rules and game pieces. That is unless you consider the first time appearance of France as a power in the game. Otherwise the two games are seamless in every way. Italy, first introduced in the Anniversary game, will be back. The Mediterranean, Africa, and the Middle East will become contested like never before with this deceivingly small Axis powerhouse on the move. The new tactical aircraft, dive bombers and torpedo planes are just as exciting and fun to play in Europe ‘40 as they are in Pacific ‘40. The mechanized infantry, however, will take on even more importance on the new game’s more land battle-oriented side of the globe.

Although I’m not sure what he means when he said “future Axis and Allies”. If he meant future AA as in, beyond Europe 1940…I have no idea.  :?

  • I doubt it. I think he will make a WWI game for the 100th anniversary.

  • lets hope. Its time for a change. Too many WW2 games

  • I completely agree. Its time for some WWI games. I must use blimps!

  • But on is website I think he said he does not want a game like that and does not know why so many people want a game like that  :|

For future AA games I think it depends on the scale and scope.

  • Personally i would like to see an A&A Stalingrad.

That would defiantly have tac bombers for the Stukas. It might even have one of those Russian missile trucks. Different kind of tanks. That game could be great.

  • Also a sniper unit would be great for a A&A Stalingrad, but im not sure how that rule would work

  • My first blog - first hello at all…

yeah sniper unit great idea but than you need all bazooka unit, Firegaz unit (i don’t know how is calling in english firegaz unit? in Germany it’s calling Flammenwerfer Einheit)

    so KR  :|

I strongly disagree with that statement. Never enough WWII games. We just need more detailed games with different types of units. Light, medium, and heavy tanks, long range artilllary, long range fighters and bombers (for U.S.A.), pocket battleships, Escort carriers and so on. The list is almost endless. Now we all know that IL has tinkered with lots of these types of units but most of us have not. And what about AA hex based eastern front and N. Africa games. Looks like a possibility for these type AA games. When I say hex games I mean with a large enough map to allow for possible flanking moves and a large Mediterranean that cannot be bridged in one move. Sorry I was starting to rant.  @special:

We do not need a flame thrower unit. That would be more of a mess than spilling a drink on the board. Sorry again, I could not resist.

  • lol at flamethrower, but what about the buildings and the cardboard?

I put plexi-glass over my maps. First line of defense against flame throwers and drinks.

  • Flick a bic and watch the plastic melt.
