Ah. I hadn’t understood that subtlety. It’s a bit like assuming that, as an attacker, I’m going to win - so, retreat isn’t an option. Thanks a lot for your help.
Self immolation

can one sbr ones own or an friendly IC to deny its use to the enemy?

no not in any version

Wasn’t there something called scorched earth a while back. Might have been an option or somebodies official house rule. Can’t remember. It would have been easy to implement something like that in AA50 with the new damage markers. Just roll a dice as you lose the IC.

The closest I’ve come to this, is bombing Karelia at the same time as taking it, knowing the Germans would take it right back. At least you can bomb a complex in the same combat movement as attacking it…

This was a Russian NA from Revised I think.

I’ve done that too except with UK taking Italy.

I think it goes back further than that. I seem to recall it being an option on the '97 A&A PC game. The one that wasn’t a bastardized ripoff of the A&A name and was the actual A&A.

Scorched earth was from the PC game in 97
You could destroy your factory or AA gun if the enemy took that territory.
VERY powerful
