“When attacking or defending, hits scored by air units cannot be assigned to submarines
unless there is a destroyer friendly to the air units in the battle.” (Rulebook, page 30)
HTH :slightly_smiling_face:
question on the rules for attacking sunmarines. can battleships, cruisers and other subs attack submarines without a destroyer? or do you always need a destroyer to attack subs? i know a destroyer is required for planes to attack subs.

Surface warships can attack submarines without a destroyer present, however the defending submarine has the option to submerge before the attacker has had a chance to fire. Basically, the defender gets to decide if they want to participate in combat at that point.
and with a detroyer present, the sub cannot submerge. makes sense. thank you so much.
