• Is it true that the Japanese Kamikazee response occurs during the Allies turn?

    Exactly how does it work?

    What is the sequence?

    Is it an unlimited reponse or only 6 different times?

  • Official Q&A

    Japan gets six targeted Kamikaze attacks per game, and they can only occur in specially-marked sea zones.  After combat movement is completed on any player’s turn, Japan may announce Kamikaze attacks will occur.  The Japan player announces how many Kamikaze will attack and in which sea zones, as well as the specific target of each Kamikaze.  Submarines may not be targeted.  The attacks can occur whether or not there are Japanese forces in the sea zone(s).

    Each Kamikaze then rolls one die, hitting its target on a 2 or less.  The hits are applied in the first round of combat, so they will get to fire back if there’s a battle.  A Kamikaze attack counts as a naval battle, so it will prevent shore bombardment if used against an amphibiously assaulting fleet.

  • OK, so there are only 6 kamikaze attacks total, Japan could conduct all 6 attacks agst one US/UK fleet as it entered one of those specially marked kamikaze zones, correct?

    If it did that there will be no more kamikaze attacks at all on the board again, becz they are now all used up. It is not 6 attacks per zone, right?

    OK, Japan can use the kamikaze attacks not only when the Allies move on the Allies combat, non-combat?? turn, but also as it combat moves on it’s own turn, correct?

    And what is different too, is that Japan picks the casualties for each kamikaze hit, correct?

    The casualties do not fire back if thay had just entered an empty seazone, correct? They only fire back if there are Japanese naval units present, correct?

    It seems particularly useful and devious :evil:, to use it to prevent shore bombardment, in an empty sea zone, ie no Japanese naval units present!!!

    Thanks!

    Correct.

    It’s six attacks total for the entire game.

    They can be used after any player’s combat movement.

    @Constantinople:

    And what is different too, is that Japan picks the casualties for each kamikaze hit, correct?

    Correct.  The targets are chosen before any dice are rolled.

    @Constantinople:

    The casualties do not fire back if thay had just entered an empty seazone, correct? They only fire back if there are Japanese naval units present, correct?

    Correct, as there would be nothing to fire at if there are no Japanese units.
