My question is in the topic name so?

Suggestion?

-As the Russian , with NO's, i think you cant do much to keep Karelia on G2 if you want your 5 IPC for NO's. You can counter with a good force but....if the german has bought 6 tanks, its hard to keep it on G3...

- Without NO's, i think that if you putt all you can plus a build of a plane and a tank....and UK put his own 2 fighters in Karelia, Germany could have some prob taking it.

Easy!  Just offer the German player 20 bucks to not take Karelia on G2.

If Germany sends enough to Baltic and 4 inf to Finland you can't hold it. Still I wouldn't mind if Germany takes it, just make sure she can't hold onto it!!!  wink

Karelia starts with 5 inf, 1art.  Move 2 inf from Belorussia and 2 inf from Archangel, 1 arm from Russia, plus 2 arm builds.  Now at the end of R1, there are 9 inf, 1 art, and 3 arm. (defense of 29).  That'll hold 'em - don't you think?

(Britian probably needs to committ the RAF to take out the German navy though)

Germany can take Kalia G1. If Russia hits one ftr with AA gun, then the second rnd of combat Germany rolls @5 and Russia gets one hit, 1 G tank remains in Kalia. If the CA hits then its even easier for Germany. This is average dice rolls, using LL estimate.

Germany gets much batter odds if they wait till G2. They can take other spots with better odds on G1. If they take karelia, they spent their wad of infantry fodder.

go all-out to finland, move as much army as possible to Karelia Archangelsk, buy 3 arm 5 inf, place 1 inf in Len, 3 arm in Mos, and get ready for a 15-unit-strong counter at R2 Smiley Ow, and make sure the German trn is killed by UK...

Finland with 4 inf? Then the UK BB+ trn survived (otherwise Nwy wouldn't be a safe landing place for the bmr/ftr). => still go all-out to Finland, followed up by UK if not taken with Rus.

No, it won't be enough if Germany puts her mind to Karelia on G1.

To IL: It's true you have better odds on Karelia on G2 (hurraah, we agree on something grin), however how much do you have left after G1 in the Baltic States? Because I think that the possbility of Russia to counter Baltic on R1 is crucial in this IMHO. wink

There's an easy solution, move the RAF fighters onto Karelia.  Problem solved.

It's one turn of 5 less production for Russia... well, 3 really, since losing Karelia is 2.  It's not a big deal.  That 5 bonus is for when Russia's strong enough, which they aren't at the beginning as everyone has shown.

Remember Germany also gets 7 (2 for the territory and 5 bonus) production from Karelia, and can start producing armies there.  That's a huge negative, because without that factory the German line gets stretched out and weak on infantry.  The negatives from losing it are steep, very steep.
