Board Game Variants / Global War / Re: HBG's Global War 1939 FAQ

Alright guys, let me give you the update... The rules were done more or less a month or so ago to our liking. Tigerman took it upon himself to playtest them as much as possible to eliminate any bugs or other issues he could find. However, as most of you already know, the HBG crew has been very busy with Amerika, Japanese sets, and the like to get in the playtest time we really wanted on this. All the HBG guys still have normal day jobs too! So here's the deal. I talked to Tigerman today and he's pretty confident in the 6.0, but was hesitant only because he holds a very high standard to this game. He, and the rest of us, know you all have invested a lot of time and money into Global War, and HBG aims to show you the respect and satisfaction you all deserve. With that, I convinced him we should post the 6.0 and we all agree. I will get it tonight and post to BGG immediately. It takes them a few days to approve and post, but I would expect it there by Saturday. After you get them, try them out and give us your usual feedback. You know by now, we TRULY DO LISTEN. You guys are the greatest out there and without you, Global War would not be what it is today. But remember, perfection is near impossible to achieve. We have truly done our best, but expect some criticism. We welcome all constructive criticism! With that, enjoy 6.0, the best one yet!

Yep, listen to Koba. He knows what he's talking about. I suggest getting the rules and going through the stuff you already own to see what you would still need. You can choose how you want your set to look. Different color pieces, markers, however you want to build it. It's up to you. HBG provides all the tools. I would look at the stuff on our site and decide what you like best. Then make a list of what colors/markers to use for what, and compare that against the setup charts in the rules. Remember to buy enough overage for in-game purchases. This is the fun part of getting this game to me. Customized to your preference!

I think it's mid-summer.
Currently, I think this is a safe bet. Tough part right now is trying to do a double set of Japanese at the same time as Amerika stuff and WWI stuff with a new method (the 3d modeling you've been seeing on FB). Very time consuming work alongside the regular stuff (markers, games, conventions, real jobs etc).

French equipment was widely used by smaller neutral and minor nations. So this set is intended to provide pieces for Neutrals, Minors, and supplement oob French etc... That would be why all French. This is not meant to be the "end all, do all" of HBG WWI pieces.

Yea, I have one of the models - Rick Fokker's if I am not spelling the name wrong. lol. Something inherited, but I am told never to remove it from the box. /whatever. Yea I had robotech/battletech backwards in my mind.
I think I need to talk you out of this model... More importantly, I'm in on this KS. You gotta go with at least the "Battle Cry" level so you get all the extras. Looks to be a nice fast minis game and I get to do some painting! I even get to bust out a tape measure again. Better go find my old Geo-Hex. Please, everyone, even if you don't want the game, toss in a $1 to make this one as cool as possible! Stretch goals are achieved through $$$ support AND number of backers. Help the rest of us please!

IL, I really like the map and basic ideas you have for your custom game, and I do appreciate you specialized units and rules.
However, I'm more of a fan of the "standard" Axis and Allies setup; say nothing more complicated than G40.
So, I was wondering if you would make an alternate setup or whatnot that just included the most basic of units? No special units or special rules (other than NOs) to each country? It would be appreciated too, though I understand if that's not feasible. Maybe that could be done after the game is released.
~Venoc, still considering getting the game either way.
I actually did this a few years ago for IL's old Great War rules and game. Not sure if I still have it. I'd only be willing to give it out if he says it's okay. I'm sure some updates would be needed based on changes that occurred between then and the current production version.

Hey, these days I would be willing to do anything to get a 10 year old into board games and away from the Play Station... Good on you buddy for doing that! I feel board games are a lost past time... I'm doing the best I can to keep my 4 year old into it. He's got almost as many games as I do! (Almost... )

You get them from board game geek. Version 5.1, dated November 3, 2012. For whatever reason, you can only get to the most recent rules by clicking on the May 24, 2012 rules (updates version 5.0) link.
Yes, this is correct. For some reason, BGG format forces me to post the rules in this way. I was rejected for trying to give the 5.1 it's own listing 6.0 due out soon as you know. Tiger is still chugging along between 12 hour days at his regular job.
