By the way Patton beat Rommel in Africa, and he would have in Europe, but you know the rest of that story.

Also if you don't have a target within the three spaces...No rocket attack.

I haven't tried this yet but I think that Germany can save all their IPC's on the first turn, attack the british ships, taking convoy routes when possible, and then wait to see what the UK builds. Most likely it will be an anti-sub build.
If it looks plausible in the second round plop down an Invasion Fleet Hit convoy routs and ships and invade on turn three.
I think this only works if the UK doesn't expect it also probably only works once. However, the second time you try it and the British fortify the island just build tanks for Russia.

I would hit Ukraine with everything I could. I would still hit the British ships (North Sea and Labrador) But I could still get 4 armor and 5 Inf. I think it is important to eliminate the russian armor.
I would build 9Inf and 1Arm.
Then Attack at least one russian territory a turn with Germany and if possible with Japan.
The Russian basicly has no offencive power at this time so the threat of counter attack is at a minmum.
Personaly I am happy when I see this situation with Germany.

I have only played once, but it seems to me that if you hit the convoy routes as soon as possible and eliminate the allied navies as much as possible then concentrate on getting troops on the mainland and go through China to get to India you can take it. I think Australia can be crippled by the loss of convoy routes so you can hold of on attacking them.
Although, I've only played once and it was against two people who were first time players as well, so I won but take it for what its worth.

You can find it on EBay or find some one to burn a copy for you.
As for the quality of the game, it is great to play online against real people, but the game itself has short sighted strategy and is easy to beat.
It is fun to test Ideas for up coming board games as well.

I also find it quite effective to try to be as deceptive as possible. For example I was playing a game last month where I (US) had landed a large force of troops in Algeria. The Japanese had built a complex in South Africa. When I saw that Karelia was weak instead of landing troops to increase their defense I made it appear as though I was going after the complex while I built an invasion fleet in Algeria by "damn I forgot to move those Infantry" and "oops I left my transports there". I also happened to have a large Air force in the UK. So when the Germans went in to Karelia I countered and destroyed all the German Armor that was massed to take Russia.

I will offer advice. If the partner disregards my advice I consider it a challenge to overcome an incompetent ally.
I have this problem often, as I am a military Genius! Wow, I actually got that out with a strait face!

I think you have beter cahances if you leave Africa for the americans and have the british concetrate on India. On the first turn use the Russian fighters to help defend the future IC. They also send two Inf to Sinkiang to help Defend the US IC there. Sinkiang and India suport each other and as soon as they can manage they send troops to Russia. The US can land troops in Africa by the boat load if they use Eastern Canada. These troops can A)march through the middle east to the Caucasus or B)From Algeria land in any German territory.

Did you print it out on 8x11 sheets? Or on a large printer? I've been wondering what it would cost to have a map that large printed.

In order to use World at war you will need the original or Pacific. I think the best game is a combination of Europe and Pacific on the World at War Map. Although I think Europe and Pacific did the oceans much better. Maybe I need to make my own map!

I played both games for the first time this weekend. We used "thrashers" rules to link them. I was hella cool! My only problem with Pacific is the victory points. I like fighting with armys and navys to conquer teritory. The VP system, like the IPC victory, just doesn't offer me any satisfaction. In combining the two we droped the VP system. Although I probably had the victory in both games individualy, it was still undesided when we quit playing(at 6:30 in the morning).
In case you are wondering, I took moscow on turn 5 and I was at the border of the Indian capital on six. I (Japs)ruled the Pacific but the US had begun to rebuild its Pacific navy, the allies dominated the Atlantic, but the I (Germans) held the Med. with a strong showing in Africa.
