1  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / How can I play AA50 online? on: June 09, 2010, 09:07:00 pm
I recently had to get a new computer.  I re-downloaded Triplea and Axis and Allies Revised isn't on it.  Is it still available?
2  Axis & Allies / 1941 Scenario / Should the Axis put AA guns in Fortress Europe (France and NW Europe) on: August 12, 2009, 08:09:06 am
By ASAP, I mean buying an AA gun in the first or second round and moving the starting AA gun to the location from Germany, so the build goes straight to Germany not leaving the capital undefended.

Eventually probably means you only buy an AA gun when an air assisted amphibious assault seems iminent or to go with an IC in France, or whenever you have a relative glut of IPCs, or perhaps having Italy make AA guns and shipping them north..
3  Axis & Allies / 1941 Scenario / Australian Fleet on: August 01, 2009, 03:29:13 am
What should one do with the transport and destroyer way down under?  Granted I have only played against myself, but Allied Me can never manage to sneak the ships out without Axis me killing them with a pair of fighters from a carrier.  Keeping the ships there just buys them another round or two because Axis Me usually tries to make a clean sweep of the Pacific.
4  Axis & Allies / 1941 Scenario / Re: National Advantages on: August 01, 2009, 01:05:56 am
I don't think I'd use them but they are amusing.  I like the NA to simulate Stalin's purges of his best officers especially.
5  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition / Strategies Defending and Attacking China on: August 01, 2009, 12:46:37 am
General Question
Do sane Japanese players ever NOT send enough troops to destroy the flying tigers in round one, or do the flying tigers only survive due to sheer dumb luck?

Allied side:
How should one go about deploying troops if you don't have the Tigers?

How should one go about deploying troops if you do have the Tigers?

Do the allies ever find it worth their while to go after Taiwan (or whatever it's called in the game for China)?

If most/all of China falls, is it worth the other Allies time to liberate it?

Axis side:

The Chinese can't leave the area, is it a viable strategy to just ignore them altogether and focus on Russia and the Pacific?

Do the Chinese IPCs and relatively weak defenders mean you should take out China ASAP?

Is there a middle way?
6  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition / Re: worst rule ever... on: August 01, 2009, 12:10:14 am
As for blitzes being stopped by antiaircraft guns.  Don't think of the tanks as pausing to deal with the "threat."  They are pausing to secure the gun and allow their supply lines to catch up so their forces can use it.
7  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition / Re: what is the USSR sub useful for? on: July 30, 2009, 08:22:08 pm
I agree with comic relief.  I have yet to play the AA50 against a human (because I'm waiting for the reprint).  But in the old school A&A games, we used the sub to crack jokes about.  We called it the Red October and that alone made anything done with it funny.  Also, any time the sub amounts to anything is a cause for mass celebration, if it doesn't amount to anything, no biggie.
8  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: So how does online play work? on: February 05, 2008, 03:26:57 am
Thanks, I'd give you a karma point if I knew how.
9  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: So how does online play work? on: January 31, 2008, 10:56:36 pm
I have Triple A, it does not seem to actually be revised and I haven't figured out how to load and unload transports.
10  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Japan and Industrial Centers on: January 27, 2008, 07:38:33 pm
When and where do you want to build them?  Too many and/or too soon, you've hurt yourself at the bank.  Too few and your transports are even more nonexpendable.

Does everyone have to mark on their map what their opponents do or what?  I downloaded MapView but it doesn't seem to have any dice.  If you have to trust your opponent to report dice rolls not only does that involve lots of trust, but it would time consuming to report each roll.
12  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: What is the difference between A&ARevised and A&ARevised Enhanced? on: January 20, 2008, 09:07:06 am
I saw the rules and they seem well thought out.  Though using it tabletop may not be in the near future.  My friend who introduced me to A&AR is rather attached to OOB (with the minor house rule that Flying Fortresses are not allowed).  I figured if LHTR was made to nerf the power of bombers that I'd use lots of bombers as the Allies to win that way.  The bombers didn't cause me to lose but bad tech rolls and newbie mistakes involving making a bid for Manila and Paris way to early did.

In any event, how do I use the mapview program I saw referenced?  I downloaded it alright but I couldn't find the module for A&ARe.

Thanks in advance to whoever clears up how to do this.

The title says it all.
14  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: A&A Revised for computer on: January 18, 2008, 07:22:15 am
I tried it and the territories were noticably different and the costs of units was different.  I think it was some half-way point between Axis and Allies and Axis and Allies revised.
15  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / The UK and Industrial Centers on: January 17, 2008, 11:01:53 am
I'm relatively new to Axis and Allies having played two games.  Both of which Japan takes India the turn after an industrial center is built there.  I'm told that was a fluke.

In any event, I found four strategies on UK and industrial centers

1) India
2) South Africa
3) India and South Africa
4) Sticking with the one in London

What are the pros and cons of these choices and what do experienced players tend to do?
