Hey,

I think OOB = Out of Box.

So what are OM and LHTR and where would you find a copy of the rule sets?

Hey,

I am a man. All the girls and woman I know would rather have a root canal then play any form of the A&A game; however, my wife does have an unusual liking to video games. It has been my experience that not many girls and especially woman have the same level of intrest in video games as they do A&A games.

Hey,

Yeah I would have to agree 100% with Out Side Lime on that.

Hey,

I agree with you guys revised is the way to go; however, I had one buddy who just didn't grasp the concepts until he started DDay. So I would have to say it depends on the person also.

The only thing I can think of that made DDay easy to start with is all the idiot cards tell you what to do in order. But for the most part I stick with revised

1160  Axis & Allies / Other Axis & Allies Variants / unique rules on: March 07, 2007, 04:27:35 am
Hey All,

Here is an intresting topic I have found doing a little reading here. In most of your home based groups as well as the tournaments here there are rule variations.

My question here is what are some costom rules you or your group have come up With to make your game intresting?

One rule in my group is INF can spawn on any territory your country had controll of at the beginning of the game (with or without an IC) not to exceed the IPC value of that territory. The reason for this rule is most Melita units don't come from populated areas. plus this helps all players equally I think.

Also include your justification for variation.  grin I think we all can have a lot of fun with this topic!

Thank you,

Yeah,

I agree what we did was to put limitations on this we devised a system that works kinda like a golf handicap, based on you game ability. this determines how many NA's you get if any. Also we decided that you can only use your NA's so many times in the game.

Through the course of history (and even today) invaders / defenders made militia unit where ever they went. I like the idea that INF can spawn from where ever you want not to exceed the locations IPC index. To bad thats not a rule cry

Hey Jen,

I would like to know how that 100% tank build goes.  grin

I seem to be more comfortable with about a 50-50 IPC split with INF and ARM. For example:
(15IPC = 5 INF) + (15IPC = 3 AMR)

Then every time you X that by 2 add  1 FTR. Thats what I feel gives me the most blood for the buck!

Hey Guys,

About how much is generally given as severance to the axis? (don't be specific and a smart a** about it) Ball park from 5-15 or higher?
1165  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: Best Allied strategy on: March 06, 2007, 11:58:14 am
Hey guys,

When playing as the allies I have found that you best bet is to (In order) use Russia to create a dead zone with germany brining there front to a halt.

As UK they have a two part goal:
1) build a IC in India to give Japan hell in Asia as a method to delay there foothold on the mainland.
2) Build a IC in S Africa this will be used to keep Germany from holding Africa by sending two tanks every turn to the front.

As the US build an Atlantic navy sending troop to Norway or to Africa to aid you Allies.

The key to win as the Axis is to expand rapidly. So as an Ally all you have to do is keep them contained until the US can send the death blow in Germany or Japan.

Hey Frimmel,

Why do people use bidding to pawn off the Axis player?

1168  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: How do you lay out a good Navy plan? on: March 06, 2007, 11:12:44 am
Hey,

In the end I think it boils down to what your up against. I was just wondering if any one had a scientific equation to combating an opposing Navy the way (from what I can tell) most of us use to combat land forces.

Thank you all for your input
1169  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: How do you lay out a good Navy plan? on: March 06, 2007, 08:19:13 am
Thank you thats exactly what I want to ask!

I would think you could break it down like you could land warfare into

1) mobility, 2) Counter-mobility, 3) surviveability

As I was told when I was in the Army on ship "You make a pss poor sailor" How do you make it work? what strategy do you use to accomplish this?

Hey All,

As you can all tell I don't have a pic (nor do I know how to post one)

The first part of my screen name comes from a deep religious back ground I was raised in. I also got intrested in the topic when I was in the Army. when the war on terror started when we learned the big rub with Israel and its bloody relationship with their distant cousins (other tribes of Israel)

the 04 is the easy part my call sigh in the army always ended in 04 because I worked in the S-4 office. grin
