Other Forums / Other Games / New Fortress America Question?

Don't know if this has been asked yet but one of my opponents and I were having a dispute about the attacker disengage rule.
When an attacking unit is disengaged it can no longer be taken as a casualty? Correct? Incorrect?
Thanks in advance. I know the users here have likely played the new Fortress America before.

Axis & Allies / House Rules / Just Read It

There needs to be an Axis and Allies game in which you only focus on the Eastern Front. Germany vs Soviet Union. Let that be the whole game.
They can make it like Fortress America in which Germany comes in really strong and hands out a beating to the Soviet troops. And then rebels pop up to save the day. There was a lot of citizens that fought German troops so it makes sense.
There can even be a weather system where it goes from winter to summer. And that makes things better and worse for the Germans. And the more North you go the worse.
So it can make sense to wait until summer for certain attacks at the cost of giving the Soviet Union more preparation time and rebel help.
As the game goes they can make it so reinforcements get lost to things such as American/British bombing supply lines and then when the invisible Western Front gets opened up. The reinforcements can come in by the turn until they run out. And they can make so reinforcements are dead always.
Its a lot like fortress america except in the Soviet Union instead. And they can make it Axis and Allies like. With all the A&A units.
Think about it and if we all like then we can harass Larry about it.
OK GUYS YOU TAKE YOUR SHOTS ON ME NOW!

What a game. If Italy is to stand a chance they need to build a major IC in both main Italy spaces. And they have to take the German controlled France. They need the cash.
A lot of the world domination would be who took more IPC during the regular game.

Perhaps. I think Soviet Union may have a chance if they really expand into Eastern Europe. They can rake in up to 70 IPCS if they take over enough German spaces. Even more if they make it to the Middle East. I don't know. I have to try it.

It's been out a while now. I'm surprised nobody has already posted about it. I know in the event of the allies winning then countries like France and ANZAC wouldn't have much of a chance. You'd have to let China leave China and let them build the big ticket items like carriers and SBR's. And give them factory privileges. Perhaps in Manchuria and Shangtung they can get Major IC's. And anything they get afterwards can be minors like everyone else. Who would win.... well who knows until you try.
The axis is more interesting...
I'm really hot for the three way square off. Now I know what everyone is going to say... "Italy doesn't stand a chance!" Well I mean if they fulfill their bonuses and have all of Africa and the Middle East and maybe even Caucasus then they can rake in about 80 IPCS. They would have to upgrade their two land factories on the mainland.
But the real game breaker in the event the Axis go to world domination (at least I think) is who has control of the continental United States. 20+12+10= 42 IPCS. Add Mexico Canada and all of South America (yes counting the neutrals). And now we are talking almost a 60 IPC swing that almost can't be interrupted no matter what the other country tries.
I don't know about all you but I want to try this bad. Can anyone find 9 players to try out this insanity?

Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Global 1940 / Re: UK tips and strategies

If Germany does Sealion. Then you get as many infantry as possible with your money, you bring things from Canada. Land all planes possible. And save any kind of navy you will still have so that it can haunt Germany later on.
The purpose of this is to make London easier for America to liberate and take as many German things with you to the grave as possible. This makes it harder to defend England as Germany has to ferry infantry. (The minor Ic can build only minimal defense) and a more difficult attack on the Soviet Union.
In my games sometimes Germany gets hit so hard by taking London that the Soviet Union moves into the grey spaces and gets money. My latest game they actually made an attack on Berlin.
In Africa once the minor IC in South Africa stops getting money it gets pretty impossible to hold on to. Just keep your forces in Anglo Egypt because Italy almost always has to go through their to get to the big money. To solve this problem I usually send Indians to Africa to help with the Italy threat and more importantly keep them out of the Middle East where there is more cash and the opportunity to attack the Soviet Union from another side.
Germany goes Barbarossa. Feed the South Africa IC and keep Italy out of Africa. Don't let them get that factory in Egypt or even worse Iraq. If you can get enough man power in Africa then you can go through the Middle East and up into the Soviet Union to assist them from Germany who by now is probably inches from Moscow.
Coordinate with the United States and get a big enough navy to open up a Western front. This is the most obvious way to help the Soviet Union. You can even send some spare air force to the Soviet Union if possible.

Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies 1941 / What do you guys think? Russia ideas...

Well is this for real now? A new A&A game. 1941. I hope this won't be a repeat of the 1940 games. By repeat I mean things like similar board and bonuses.
If they are using the 1941 setting then it will most definitely be a fight for the Soviet Union by Germany.
Maybe they can put more spaces between Germany and Moscow and make more alternate routes to go instead of north and south. Perhaps make Ukraine 4 spaces or something like that.
This one I like. After say a takeover of Ukraine the Germans move on. Maybe Russian rebels can pop up in spaces that were taken over by Germans in a liberation attempt. This would increase the historical accuracy in the sense that it makes revolutions that happened in the real war more visible in the game. It can be like a Russian ability only. To show the heavy defense there really was for the Russian homeland.

Well this has happened after I made this. Something to know about this is that the game was won long before where we stopped playing but we kept playing because it was interesting.
I was playing as Axis countries and Italy and Japan dominated everyone but Germany was the country not pulling its weight.
Germany: Did Barbarossa. Foolish move by me I was moving way to slow and I kept my planes at West Germany when they could have helped in Russia. Instead I took my force and attacked the Russian units with nothing but ground units. Russia had 30 infantry 7 artillery and 4 tanks including all fighters landed adjacent to West Ukraine. I as Germany had 25 infantry only 2 artillery and 8 tanks in West Ukraine. With 20 infantry behind them. Note: This attack was very late and was taking place turn 7 or so. The German force was destroyed. They hit only 6 infantry and got massacred. Only 5 infantry made it out and I moved the 20 behind them up. Russia didn't attack me so I retreated because I had no more troops going east because England and America were in the west ferrying troops over to France and Germany fought them The Germans weren't the problem for Russia. It was the Italians and Japanese. The Luftwaffe was destroyed when they attempted to destroy the American and British navy. On 3 attempts.
Italy: By now after getting all of Africa and Middle East and earning all bonuses and taking India and from their fight with the Russians via Caucasus turned Italy into an 80 IPC country. When everything was happening. Italy had to do the job of Germany. Italy upgraded their industry in the south so they could meet the threat of England and America. All the boats that England built before their economy became crap and with America constantly supplying more troops let England who I believe had 18 IPCS at the time keep building ground units on boats that they weren’t losing. Germany was being bombed by American bombers making it impossible to build more than 10 IPCS. Eventually it became nothing because the Russians coming from the east were taking back old territory and eventually German spaces. Earning the big bonuses for the original German territories occupied. With all that money. Russia was able to kick out Italy and deal with the threat. Back in France. Italy got into a fight with England and United States to keep them from the liberation of France. Eventually Italy was forced to help Germany from getting Berlin taken over. Between the Germans that retreated from Russia earlier. And new fresh Italian troops and the Italian air force to reinforce held out against the RUSSIAN invasion. Afterwards the Italians had trouble fighting Russia and UK and US because of everyone beating coming from 50 different sides. Even Italy couldn’t keep up with the combined production. New Russian forces were on their way and were stationed in the Baltic States to move. Italy failed to defeat England and America in West Germany. ( They bypassed France surprisingly) Now America invaded Germany and succeeded this time. Italy couldn’t fight everyone. Especially with everyone on them. Also to add to the problem, Russia took back Caucasus and the Middle East and Italy had no resources to take it back because everyone was at their capital getting ready to invade. Italy would’ve held out for a long time because they kicked everyone away from the capital but couldn’t get Germany back. However the air force made things easy for Italy.
Japan: This was interesting because Japan had done what it always does in my games. It bails all land units out of China and invades Russia. Then while that happens, Japan builds only boats to fight America with and take over the whole Pacific. Japan took over ANZAC easily earning its bonuses for western centers and the DEI bonus and the outer defense island bonus. Between Russian money and with Italian occupation of India giving them that bonus as well, Japan became….. You guessed it an 80 IPC country. With that power fighting America was easy. I can’t count the number of times I destroyed the American Pacific navy and air force. I even took over Western United States and held it for 2 turns. The interesting thing was the fight with Russia which never got of the ground because we stopped. After destroying the original 18 infantry, I built a major IC in Korea and with I made 5 infantry and 5 artillery a turn. For a very long time and just pumped them into Russia. At the Urals I met the Russian force that my opponent built to fight Japan with. This was possible due to the Russian money from the German spaces and the middle east later on. There was a line of Japanese ground units in the East Russia spaces. Getting ready to single-handedly take over Russia. Then the game ended.
The funny thing about this game is that it had been over a long time ago. I won on the Pacific side. Italy had Calcutta. Japan had Sydney Manilla Tokyo Honolulu and San Francisco. This was on like something like turn 8 and we decided to play until something like turn 20. Italy was going down the toilet and Germany had been there since the beginning. Japan was fighting America and Russia all by themselves and probably could’ve done it if the game kept going.

Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Global 1940 / Re: To defend Sea Lion? Or not to defend Sea Lion? That is the question

London will be under Germany's control if Germany wants it bad enough. Every time I've tried a sea lion, I've succeeded. Not matter how much they build turn 1 and 2, Germany will always get it. Its just a matter of how much they lose and how many units are then neglecting Russia.
If England wants to defend against Germany then all I can say is bring the Canadians over to UK and bring every fighter and tactical bomber you can. This would most defiantly put the German resources in a drain.
Not defending is more interesting and brings all your fighters and spare things to help America. Later on if America can do it then UK can land their fighters in their hopefully liberated homeland and then eventually France.
Each decision has pros and cons so its a matter of how the player uses their pros to cover their cons

I agree with the above. China really isn't worth the time. India I just leave as a job for the Italians. My opponent marches them to Africa and the Middle East since Japan doesn't attack them at all. I just focus on Australlia and America and Russia. Also sometimes I will launch an attack on India with the Japanese navy if I feel I can spare the resources.
