1  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: Recapturing Territories debate on: December 19, 2006, 08:05:07 am
I've only had one game get this far vs. Amon-Sul.  He introduced me to the rule that friendly powers can claim lands, but we played the second half of the game as if you did not have to concede the land to the enemy first before claiming it as income.

In the end it helped him more that we played that way (he was Axis and the situation was very similar to this).  The rule helps the Allies since the Axis has more territories it must gain in order to win.  This considerably changes how I should have played the last several rounds.  I'll have to stew over this a while before proceeding.

OK, I guess I have to live with that in territories that were originally controlled by an enemy power.

Here's part 2 of the question.  As Japan, I've just rolled through and liberated a bunch of German countries that the Allies had previously captured.  Berlin has not fallen yet.  So does that mean that when Berlin falls, and all of my units are hanging out in Eastern Europe, Belo, etc., that I cannot claim those territories as Japan income?  Even though my units are sitting there?

If that's true, then I just totally F'ed up on my last Japan move vs. U-505.  That means that the Axis benefits by letting Germany fall into the hands of the Allies, and then they march across West Russia, Belo, etc.  Looking back, I also should have played Germany totally differently and NOT liberated more German territory so the territories could ultimately go to Japan.

This may cost me the game, if not significantly delay a victory.
3  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Recapturing Territories debate on: December 18, 2006, 02:18:45 pm
THe situation:

Germany captures Congo from the Brits early in the game.  Then Berlin falls, with Congo still under the German flag.  Can Japan move a land unit into Congo to take control of that territory and claim it for income?

The Congo technically isn't "liberated" when Japan moves in.  But Germany can't do jack squat with it, so does it become idle until one of the Allies comes along?  That would seem crazy since the Allies would presumably benefit from leaving one of their territories under foreign control, because Japan could beat them back and earn income where the Germans could not.

LHTR 1.3 rulebook seems unclear on this issue.  Help!
4  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Noncombat move clarification needed. on: October 18, 2006, 08:59:15 am
Need some clarification here folks.

Japan owns India and Caucusus, with 1 US INF standing between them in Persia.  Japan attacks the US INF in Persia with everything from India except its tanks.

After Japan captures Persia, can Japan (in noncombat move phase) then roll the tanks from India through Persia into Caucusus to link up with the other Japanese forces?

Please help, because an epic battle awaits the ruling.  My Moscovians have long since had Czarist History removed from the classroom and replaced with Vocational Electronics courses.

Thank you all.
6  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / LHTR question re: ICs on: October 17, 2006, 07:58:38 am
I'm Allies, and my opponent has conquered Moscow.  I have multinational forces in Caucusus.  Can the Allies (UK and USA) build in Caucusus?  Here is what I found on Page 18 of LHTR:

You cannot
place your new units at an industrial complex
owned by a friendly power, unless its capital
is in enemy hands. Even if you liberate a
territory with an industrial complex in it,
you cannot use the complex; the original
controller can use it on his or her next turn.

So, is this saying that if I liberate Moscow as US, then Russia can use Caucusus on Russia's next turn?  I want to make sure I have these 2 questions answered correctly.

Thanks!
7  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / AA fire at non-attacking aircraft? on: September 24, 2006, 04:28:06 pm
Does an AA gun get a shot at aircraft flying over the territory, or only if the aircraft are attacking the territory?

Does it matter if the planes are moving in combat or noncombat phases?

What if a bomber flies over an enemy AA, attacks a territory, then flies back over the AA to return to its original starting spot.  Does the enemy AA get one shot before and one shot after the bomber attacks?
8  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / ABattleMap problem on: September 18, 2006, 01:41:36 pm
So I'm playing using ABattleMap, and suddenly I notice that the InfoView window is no longer open.  When I go up to toggle it on/off, it doesn't reappear.  Then I tried to start a new game and the InfoView is nowhere to be found.

Any ideas on my problem?  I'm using v0.79.

Help would be greatly appreciated.
9  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Russian Fighter in AngloEgypt? on: September 14, 2006, 08:50:43 am
Wanted to get your thoughts on flying the Russian fighter to AE on R1 to make the German conquest of Africa that much harder.  Thoughts?
10  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / TRN as casualty in Amphib Assault? on: September 11, 2006, 09:59:03 am
Let's say I have a transport with 1 INF and 1 ART attacking enemy territory.  In Round 1 I score 1 hit and the defender scores 1 hit.  Can I take the TRN as the casualty so my 1 INF and 1 ART can fight in Round 2?
11  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / SBR questions on: September 11, 2006, 07:51:32 am
Can 1 bomber conduct multiple SBR's in the same turn on different territories?

Different question:  On the same turn, can the UK bomber conduct a SBR on Berlin, land back in the UK, and then be used in a combat move against Western Europe.

I have never used SBR's, but they seem to be pretty popular around here.  It looks like the risk is that if you're attacking an IC with an AA gun then you might get shot down in the process.  Anything else to concern myself with?
12  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Which A&A is this CD-Rom on: September 06, 2006, 01:18:41 pm
http://www.cybercitysoftware.com/axisandallies.html

If anyone has this CD-ROM, can you tell me if it's the Revised edition?

It also says that it offers Solo play.  If you've played the CPU, how is the game play?
13  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: Illegal/legal moves on: September 05, 2006, 01:13:32 pm
I need to figure out how to get that pic to show up on my own postings.  That would be sweet.

Pervert?  No.  Red-blooded American Man?  Yes. evil

I can never get enough of that picture.

ncsc-

Thanks for pointing that out.  Conceptually that helps me understand how the game really works.  But it certainly changes how I've been playing the game (for the better!).
