That little box with article links is pretty cool.
1427  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Guadalcanal / Re: Guadalcanal first impressions on: December 08, 2007, 05:21:50 am
My local game shop can't get my set in. His distributor has fouled the whole thing up. I really want to play and I really want to participate in all of these discussions but until I can get some games in I'd be talking out my woo ha.  angry

And I do enough of that already.   cheesy
1428  Axis & Allies / Player Help / Re: Box contents on: December 07, 2007, 09:30:52 am
Don't see why not.

There aren't any limits in OOB rules to how much of anything you can have and "you got to do what you got to do" if you have more than six territories with Japanese tanks on them.

Many folks pick up additional sets or order replacement parts so they don't run short.
1429  Axis & Allies / Axis and Allies Revised Edition / Re: Revisiting the Kill Japan First (KJF) Strategy on: December 06, 2007, 05:57:21 pm
...
Regardless of whether you go KGF or KJF, there are certain factors the Allies need to do in both cases:
#1 - do something about Afr
#2 - do something about the Ger navy
#3 - set up some type of Atlantic shuck.

..
My point is no matter which capital you ultimately go after you still have other objectives to meet against the other power.  KJF does not mean ignore Germany.  And KGF does not mean ignore Japan.

With my style I try and play a pretty generic rds 1-3 so that when it hits mid-game I can pick my target either Germany or Japan OR go after both.

I have to agree with Darth. There are fundamental things that must be done in any strat. What it ends up being called seems more a matter of hindsight and not really that relevant. Did you win? Then your strat worked whatever you want to call it.

All this smacks to me of chest thumping- my way is best talk, which I guess is what we come here for smiley

You have to go with the flow don't you?  undecided
1430  Axis & Allies / Player Help / Re: Box contents on: December 04, 2007, 05:42:32 pm
I can't speak to "supposed" to be but my set has 12 AA guns and 6 Japanese Armor. There are way to few Japanese Armor.  sad

But I've never had to few AA guns. smiley

Abatttlemap is a computer app that is essentially a computer version of the board. You can play Europe, Revised, Pacific and some other games. It has a utility that "lists units." Here is a place to start downloading abattlemap or other map utility programs http://www.frood.net/aacalc/maps/

Actually I could probably post the list.

I can not link you to a scan of the setup cards.

If you go to the Avalon Hill website I believe there is a place to order replacement parts.  undecided Also if you try looking at the boards here and looking for threads on "missing pieces" or "replacement parts" you might find a link to the order form. There are sometimes threads about this at Avalon Hills boards. Questions about parts come up but I never save the link.

Here is the list of units from Abattlemap for Europe at the start up. You should be able to paste into a text program and print it up. Hope that helps. smiley

1435  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Pacific / Re: May Pacific be played with LHTR? on: November 30, 2007, 05:06:34 pm
With all of this stuff-- it is your game. You can play it any way you like. smiley

But it doesn't hurt to ask about stuff especially if you have intentions of playing with folks outside your group.

Personally I haven't played Pacific with any thing but the altered setup and OOB rules so I'm not really much help as to whether it is better or more fun or something. I certainly recommend the revised setup found in the FAQ here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=ah/faqs/axispacific

1437  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Pacific / Re: Special first turn attack advantage for Japan? on: November 28, 2007, 09:29:27 am
All Allied units defend on 1 during Japan's first turn. It does make a considerable difference in the way the game goes if you ignore that one. smiley
1438  Axis & Allies / Player Help / Re: im new need help to get started on: November 24, 2007, 03:18:30 pm
Get started how? Playing online? Improving your strategy? Picking a version of the game?

There are a lot strategy articles and that sort of information all over the site. There is a forum for each of the games where various strategies are discussed quite deeply.
