If you have a dozen or so of those aircraft to spare attack yunnan a too along with three or four of those inf. It will destroy China, and will possible draw the UK player away from India(if UK decides to fight in China swing some transports around and attack India) and closer too the units you will soon be pumping out of that IC in Kwantung.
The NSW attack sounds good, just make sure you can defend Japan(remember you have kamakazies to defend Japan aswell).
If for any reason you cant take NSW and defend Japan, think about talking New Zealand(it has a air and naval base) and placing subs on the ANZACs remaing convoys as cheaper method of neutralizing the ANZAC player.

Im on Turn 4 and I attacked Turn 3 with the Japs, kind of expirimenting and felt it was a terrible idea because England gets tons of bonuses which they spent entirely on infantry. Ive taken most of the DEI (save for Malaya), and the British Navy was defeated by a force of a carrier and a battleship next to Malaya. China is mostly taken but I have an overabundance of planes and a massive shortage of infantry.
I have a large fleet in the Carolina Islands: 4 carriers with 4 tac-bombers, and 4 fighters. 1 battleship, and 7 destroyers. 25 hits, and 46 die points.
Against me harbored at Pearl are: 3 American Carriers, 1 Battleship, 2 Cruisers, 1 Destroyer, and 1 Submarine. 4 Fighters, 3 Tactical Bombers, and 3 regular bombers stationed on the island. This is the sole American navy. 22 hits, and 47 die points.
What do I do? Im thinking to Crush the American navy and use my transports in the DEI to take out Austrailia in the oncoming turns, and forget India. Or should I build a huge factory in Hong Kong and start pumping out troops.
Any ideas or suggestions?
How many IPCs do you have? How strong is China exactly? Do you control Yunnan? How many transports do you have? How many fighters does the ANZAC player have? You should take mayala to bring the UK down to 6 IPC(generaly Japan should take mayala before it takes any of the other East Indies). Dont worry about the UK's inf stack, aslong as you have enough units to defend against their army, you can just wait till you can consolidate the japanese airforce in the west and take out his whole army in one turn. Allthough you have good chances of destroying the US fleet, I would not risk the heavy causaulties that your fleet is bound to take, aslong as your fleet is increasing in streagth compared to the US fleet you dont have anything to worry about. A major IC in Kwantung is a good idea for defending your holdings in mainland asia until you have enough airpower to attack. aslong as you can hold what you have in Asia it is proably best to gather your fleet, aircraft, and transports for an decisive attak on either Hawwai or NSW. I decisive attak means you kill everything within two rounds of combat.

I have played four games
Japan:1 Allies:3
Each side definently has a chance, although their are few things or territories Japan has to do or take in the first three turns; victory depends upon small scale tactical decisions that so far have varied in each of these games.
Against a competent Allied player, a J1 attack does not work( it would be a poorly designed game if it did).
Aswell as great balance and variety, this game has a very historical feeling. China is finaly powerful and there is alot of incentive for Japan to not even mess with china at all. There is alot of incentive for the US to defend australia and campaign in the south pacfic instead of just heading straight for Japan. The UK fortress of Mayala is accaully well defended and protected now(you have to amphibously assault it in most situations). It is wierd that Japan can get as much or more IPCs than the US, but this is A&A and it makes for the great naval battles that AA50 lacked.

Axis & Allies / House Rules / Re: Tech via a Point System

The other problem is the techs in the OOB are terrible and do not reflect REAL TECHNOLOGY OF WW2 THAT MADE A DIFFERENCE.
I can list half of these that are bogus and have no place on a tech tree and another half that do but are not on the list.
I agree with that, what exactly are you proposing? What if the tech a player was rolling for was just kept secert, perhaps other players can see how much reseachers a player has but not how far they have progressed or what tech they are researching?

If the ANZAC can retake it on trun one, why not just take it on turn 2. ANZACs will have more time to prepare but, the US will get 40 less IPCs and when you take NSW on turn 2 you be able hold it and you will get 15 IPCs instead of 10 for taking the capital.

Is this really historically accurate?
Its as accurate just as much as anything else in A&A is accurate. Italy was indeed a major Naval Power and early in the war the meditaranean was at threat of becoming an Italian lake. I cant find my copy of the 1941 Jane's Fighting Ship at the moment, but in 1941 I know they had a number of battleships aswell as quite a few light and heavy cruisers. After world war 1 along with the US, UK, Japan and France they agreed on limits to the size of their navy which was set at 175,000 tons. They had 6 battleships at port in Taranto in 1940 when 21 British biplanes took out one and damaged two others, this severly weekend the Regia Marina.

Is Settlers of Catan worth buying? I know nothing about the game. Any personal reviews would be appreciated.
My friend just got and I was playing a few games with him and his brothers, and it is a pretty challenging game. Bascially your group and three other groups of settlers are on this inland and in order to win you have to build the most settlements/roads/cities/knights. There is no combat in the game but there certianly is treachery and strategy. To win you have quickly to come up with a plan to get 10 victory points then aquire the resources(sheep, brick, wood, wheat and ore) through producing them yourself and trading with other players. I have also seen alot of expansions that add new pieces, tradeable goods and more players(the basic game only has enough pieces for four players). It certainly dosnt compare to axis & allies(although I think it would be cool if nations in A&A could trade resources with each other), but if you want Euro-trash and to be able to play a game you can finish in two hours then this is a good choice.

Axis & Allies / House Rules / Re: Technology

Can someone help create a list of point targets for each tech? I am not a big tech user, so my insights into tech has little knowledge base.
Tech Value War bonds: 10 Advanced Artillery:10 Paratrooper: 20 IC: 20 Mech Inf: 25 Rockets: 20 Shipyards: 15 Long Range: 20 Heavy Bombers: 30 Radar: 20 Jet Fighters: 15 Supersubs: 15 The rules for tech are going to have to be modifeid alot, for if you can pick your tech the Eastern Front might end up being decided by who ever gets mech inf first as both Germany and the USSR will rush for that one. Every tech should have a counter of some sort. The counter for heavy bombers is radar. For mech inf, advanced artillery could be changed to be its counter and instead of provding its almost useless benefit it could provide some extra defence against tanks. Also I think tech should also be adjusted for historical accuarcy, right now it dosnt really make sence that mech in and paratroopers are cost more or just as much as Jet fighters and Rockets
