Heavy bombers are close enough, I'm glad it's been toned down since A&A classic.

Haven't played many of them. I had Civil War Generals 2 for PC, loved the idea, but it was terrible slow and buggy.

Has anybody found another one that they could recomend? (on any platform)
4  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies 2nd Edition / To Pearl or not to Pearl, that is the question . . . on: September 14, 2005, 11:07:19 pm
If India gets an IC, I'll forgo pearl and move on India, possible building a mainland IC myself. Once I take India, or get a second IC running, I could care less if the US has a navy, mines already headed to Afrika. If i'm planning on maintaining a trn fleet, I'll hit Pearl, then send the fleet home to pick of any Ruskies that wander to close to the water. By turn 2 or 3 when Japan has pushed back the asian defenses, I'll leave the trns to fend for themselves, and send a modest fleet of the Afrika to cause havok.
5  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies 2nd Edition / Tech on: September 14, 2005, 11:00:40 pm
In a straight-up, no bid, no RR game, the Axis might as well go for tech on round one, not much to lose. If Japan starts teching, I just try to match with the US. They can afford a couple rolls per turn while still dumping an ungodly number of inf into europe/kar
6  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies 2nd Edition / Tech on: September 14, 2005, 10:57:53 pm
I'm not so sure spending an average 30 IPC's to get a tech (any tech) is such a good idea as a saving maneuver. But if you're talking about one or maybe two rolls in desperation, then it's a legitimate longshot that could be a boon in the long-term. But it may not be enough to save the USSR or Germany. If things are bad for either of them, they may be making <20 IPC a turn. Even if it only cost 10 IPC (and some luck) to get Indust Tech, that would leave with 5 inf on turn one, and 15 after two rounds. Not much more than than you could guarenteed if you hadn't of spent on the tech. Worst case scenario, you get no tech (or super subs  rolleyes ) and now you're down 3 inf. Unfortunately, the worst case is the most likely case.

Nothing quite as valuable as the R1 Battleship! Tongue
8  Other Forums / General Discussion / Katrina Fundraising again!...Guess who!! on: September 08, 2005, 11:40:02 am
Yikes! I understand they need to rebuild in NO, but isn't that what insurance is for? (ended a sentence in a preposition, dangit) This donation collection campaign in deceitful at best.
9  Other Forums / General Discussion / Canada's response to Katrina: on: September 08, 2005, 11:37:44 am
I meant no offense to my fellow Canadians, just a little of topic humor. It's great to get any help we can, and a shame to see the people taking advantage of the suffering without doing something to ease it. embarassed
10  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies 2nd Edition / USA people on: September 08, 2005, 11:32:12 am
It's much more effective and timely to put the pressure on Germany through the well-known troop ferry, eventually crashing into WEu, or sending a transport to harrass/reclaim Afrika. A KJF strategy can work, but only with substantial coordination, and is more risky. (but that's the fun of the game)
11  Other Forums / General Discussion / NFL Picks: Pats vs Raiders on: September 07, 2005, 11:20:04 pm
Who's going to win the season opener. Pats are favored by 7 1/2 pts. I not only think they'll win, but they'll cover the spread (but not by much).

Not that this season matters, since EVERYBODY KNOWS my beloved Chiefs are going to win it all. I'm surprised anybody's even showing up to play, it's so unfair.

Pats 27 - Raiders 17

I'm glad this poll is still open, it's good to get one right. I pick the Pats.

By Sept 3rd: The Canadian Red Cross estimates that so far Canadians have donated over $1 million to date to help survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

Let's put that million through the good Canadien exchange rate.... translates to about 3 cases of water.

wonder how long it took them to come up with the chocolate bomb after the pea bomb sat on a shelf

(yeah i know it was wartime and everyone ate what they could, but peas? i'd be safe for a lifetime from that one)
15  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies 2nd Edition / India I.C. on: September 06, 2005, 08:03:02 pm
Realistically? No matter what UK & USSR can stack in India by J1, Japan can always pass up on Pearl and take India strongly. This jumpstarts the conquest in Asia twofold, the free IC pumping 3 units a turn, plus the elimination of a sizable amount of the allied asian resistance.
