My favorite character was the 'skipper' who was killed in last weeks episode  angry He was alot like Sgt. Saunders. The episodes don't need to show people having sex to convey the shenanigans going on behind the lines.

4368  Axis & Allies / House Rules / Re: Why Canada should have been a semi-separate power on: April 30, 2010, 08:51:53 am
Since this topic is really not actually in the game, i consider it a house rule discussion.
4369  Axis & Allies / House Rules / Re: Can someone explain why tanks need to cost 6 on: April 29, 2010, 09:05:27 pm
Because in AAR and AA50 as well as AAE40 people just buy nothing but tanks for Germany. AAE was broken because of this and they were 3-2 tanks costing 5.

I am glad they are 6, but i wish Mechanized Infantry were a 2-2-2-5 unit. I view them as 'light armor'

I was not referring to you fire knight. But i did remove off topic posts and some rather strange posts.. lets just call them 'head scratchers'.
4371  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Europe 1940 / Re: Why are there Canadian roundels? A new rule perhaps? on: April 29, 2010, 06:50:57 pm
This thread served its purpose which was none... based on 11 pages of god knows what followed by even worse.

In the future try to avoid using  shocked huh cool cheesy angry tongue cry rolleyes as the primary means to convey your one sentence message that also contains many spelling errors. Yes i know your also like 5 others from Canada, are 12 years old, and play hockey... but still.

The thread is getting close to being closed due to many off topic posts, but the bottom line is  AAG40 will not have dedicated Canadian forces and i have no idea why it takes 100's of posts to get to that conclusion.

Stay on topic.

Well its pretty close. Nothing is exactly the same.

Yo Imp... You've got it backwards! FMG wants to make the pieces to match dice colors.

The dice colors match the OOB pieces, except for Germany. If the German color will come out as Grey i will be very happy. Grey is just fine with me. The other pieces are OOB and the dice match them too.

4375  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Europe 1940 / Re: Operation Sealion a Possibility with AA1940 Europe? on: April 29, 2010, 10:58:48 am
Well that option only existed because of the possibility of a high bid for Germany ( buying a transport), and adding the existing tech rules that allow developments to take place on the turn you successfully rolled for long range aircraft.

The number of spaces to invade England from the AAE40 setup for German naval would preclude this option. This would be based on Larry's commentary regarding how out of range British air forces are from the German fleet on G1
4376  Axis & Allies / Other Axis & Allies Variants / Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread on: April 29, 2010, 09:36:29 am
FMG is correct as usual the pieces have the match the OOB colors and the dice. This is very important.

Once it is feasible they can consider other colors.

The French Army does not wear blue.

The USSR did no have red uniforms.

The new AAE40 colors will have french as blue and FMG must match these. French are always colored as blue historically anyway.

USSR should be colored original milton bradley brown, which is what has been used in most wargames.

If you colored every army according to its uniform, then every color would be too similar as being practical.

FMG can make the German pieces in a medium gray color representing neutral pro axis armies.

It has the added utility of getting us a lighter German set and possibly giving us Waffen SS units as the black set.

Other than that i have no idea why Germany is always black because in most games they are represented as GREY. Black tends to show the detail of the model less than a lighter color.

The actual color that might work is: Feldgrau

The intro credits are stupid and like ten minutes long!

Now wait a minute. I think the intro is one of the best for a war series i ever saw. In fact the best of all time ( longest day is probably close) The music also has a very pronounced effect. The end credits do take a bit of time and i don't like that the show ends nearly 10 minutes before the hour is over.

I wish they made it into a TV show like Combat. To me its just as good as Band of Brothers.

I wish they would get rid of the 'sex episodes', where the decorated war hero rides around selling war bonds. I just want the battles and campaigns, not the soap opera riffraff to keep young adults from changing the channel.
