I am suggesting that if men (I include myself here) who played Axis and Allies took the prescence of a knowledgable and beautiful woman player more in stride we might decrease its rarity. We might then be fortunate enough to enjoy the company of more smart, charming women who play a terrific game of A&A and who undoubtedly look wonderful in renaisance garb.

You sir are cunning.

You and your plumper girls, Switch  evil

So maybe I should initially have said something like "not bad, but I've seen better" in order to pretend that I've seen a pretty girl before?  tongue

Well what does "acting" like you've seen a pretty girl before mean? That you outwardly ignore the fact that they are pretty?  rolleyes

Exactly, but then you can block with the US Transport from Washington DC preventing the German fleets from combining until G3, giving Brition enough time to attack the Baltic fleet BEFORE it can join with the med fleet. (Allowing for US/USSR clean up should the dice be horribly against you.)

Well I don't think you can merely block the med fleet with one US transport. A German fighter or bomber can clear the transport while the fleet moves through during noncombat.

A carrier sitting in the Baltic really does not do you much good. It's when you use it to link the med and baltic navies together that it gets to be quite powerful. Use the bid in Libya so Egypt can be taken without using the med transport, then send the med navy westwards and link with the baltic one on G2. That delays the Allies at least 2 turns because of how powerful that combined fleet is.

I tend to think that Russia and UK are fairly exciting to play. You may have terrible money as the Russians but you have great positioning next to a lot of juicy German territories, and you can beat back a major offense if the Germans aren't careful. The UK is also next to a lot of juicy German territories and is a serious pain in the ass when played correctly. I do agree the UK does sort of get too simple to play at times because literally all you have to do is load 4 inf 4 tank and offload them somewhere and that's about it because you have no troops anywhere else, but it's better than being Germany whose butt is always getting kicked in against good Allied players.

You know, I havn't seen a game where England builds an IC in India.  I wonder how that would play out???  It never worked well for me in classic (then again, neither did the IC in S Africa).

I used to see this ALL the time playing against new players. It just seems so intuitive because there's an aa gun there all ready to defend you from the mighty Japanese airforce and you want to defend India because it's cool. I think Octo was the first player I've seen that intuitively AVOIDED building an IC there. Could be because of all the CSub papers or just good common sense, because ultimately your money is better spent defeating Germany quickly.

I was randomly reading Don Moody's papers one day and I thought an IC in India works extremely well in Classic with no bid or something? Like you would build mass tanks there and ruthlessly suicide them against Japanese incursions along the south. Apparently it doenst' work at all with those large bids you people are used to, though.

I didn't mean to sound mean, U-505. I too think the full canadian shield is a one trick pony, I was just pointing out that your argument that it was spending too many IPCs on navy wasn't well-founded.  cheesy

And before you attack Crazy Straw on the grounds that he has very few posts, remember that he is MarvinMartian of Caspian Sub, the most vocal and probably most pivotal of the CSub editors/players. He taught me just about everything I know in 3 quick, humiliating defeats close to a year ago. He's like Yoda or Bruce Lee and I'm hairbrained Luke running around or Jackie Chan  tongue

I think even though the Canadian Shield paper might not be that useful to KGF players, it is a very important staging ground for managing the German navy in general. It opens up a lot of thought about what you can do with your German navy, and how a 2 transport buy can be an alternative to the normal carrier buy.

The US >_>

This nation requires that you think several turns in advance, and is also a b to revise those logistics if something is disrupted (like a Japanese invasion of Canada or a surviving German fleet). It's far from the action, and requires a lot of transports to get into action.

Well you can play all countries seperately but then you will be cheating because you know what you plan to do with the other side and counter that.

Well you can try to trick yourself into playing your best for each side instead of favoring one. I've done a ton of solitaire against myself and that's how I play it  cheesy
