Sorry to hear about your health woes.

I concur with your desire to leave this state, as I too reside in Illinois.  Once my youngest gets out of her local college, all options are open.  Can't be soon enough.

Where ya lookin.  Just because all options are open, doesn't mean you don't have a preference.

KY, Ten, Ark

Not too far from Ill, but not too far south either.  Gotta be on a lake (fisherman), wife likes boating.

Thank you for the reply.  We have always been playing this way, so it was nice to confirm that it was the right way to handle withdrawals.
5  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition / Legal way to set-up a withdrawal territory on: April 03, 2013, 12:41:16 pm
Is this legal?

Say Germany has inf and tanks in bulgaria. Italy controls ukraine.  Ukraine is empty at this time.  There are Russian troops in eastern poland.

Can Germany declare a tank to 'blitz' thru ukraine to set-up a possible place to withdraw when declaring combat from bulgaria to eastern poland?

Does the answer change if Ukraine was under russia control (still empty)?

Yea, I remember those days too.  The best game out there was a text based Star Trek game called Space Wars because of possible copyright infringement.  It took about one minute to make a single move or fire a torpeedo.  If you warped into a sector with more than two Klingon ships, you'd better use phasers and knock them out in a single salvo or you may not get a second chance.

We had that game on our high school PDP-8 computer.  The key was to do a scan of the entire universe so you knew where the klingon's were.  We had a grid made the represented that universive size, and could determine the number of units to warp to each occupied space.  Also used photon torpedos to pick off individual klingon ships instead of phasers that used lots of power.

I believe we did clear the galaxy once, but it was a lot of work to do so!

Do you guys remember text based gaming? Back in the BBS (Bulletin Board System) days? Pre-internet?

Here's a Classic:

The main stars for the Hawks should get some reduced playing time (if I were the coach)

Give them a bit of a rest, bring up some youth, let them get some experience as there is nothing more to play for on a night-to-night basis since the streak ended.  The Hawks would have to play very poorly to not make the playoffs.  We have plenty of depth, time to use some of it.

Their play have been stellar.  Very fun to watch.  Now start thinking the best way to pace yourself, and get all ready for the second season:  The Playoffs.
9  General / Axis & Allies Customizations / Re: AA50 Interactive Online IPC Chart on: March 03, 2013, 09:42:36 pm

This interactive chart can be used to track each players production levels throughout your game of Axis and Allies without having to worry about markers getting knocked around!

I guess EVERYTHING is digital these days?  We don't use the IPC chart/markers.  We use a chart to write down your money on hand, and simply add it up at the end of each players turn (so no paper money either).  Count number of IPCs that you are up, subtract the number you are down, then add/subtract from your base income.

Lots easier, and no electricity needed.

11  Axis & Allies / Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition / Re: AA50 Rules Errata on: February 06, 2013, 04:57:14 pm
The lack of a viable search fetaure on this MB forces me to ask this question.

Can one territory with several AAA guns fire multiple rockets at multiple targets?
For example, Can Germany with 2 AAA guns in Germany shoot a rocket at the UK IC with one gun and at the Russian Karelia IC with the other gun?

I thought there was a limit of one gun firing per territory, but that may apply to shots at incoming planes only, not rocket shots.

I am surprised you didn't like it I believe it is the best game he ever made.

This is part of  the reason why I haven't moved onto Global, since AA50 is a such great game.

AA50's only short coming is the weak implementation of weapons development.  That can be fixed by not using weapons (they are an optional rule) or implementing a better tech system with house rules.

fun reading gents, I am learning allot.

I am a Football fan first (much more knowledgeable about that sport) but hockey is a close second.  I love my team (Blackhawks), and it is good to learn more about the other good teams in the league.

I would agree with the (albeit a homer) view that Chicago should go far this year.  Their goaltending play is much improved.  Emery won the Calgary game himself, something you have not seen in Chicago since Neimi did this in the Stanley Cup winning year.

yessir, depth and youth will be served this season, that's for sure.

Need the lucky rabbits foot to avoid the injuries as well.

It should be a fun ride!
15  Other Forums / General Discussion / Re: Will the allies ever win WWII in newer axis and allies boards? on: January 27, 2013, 03:28:59 pm
I consider AA50 to be old.  I am not sure why we making comparisons to two older boards, revised and aa50.

I am talking about global, 1942, and 1941. Have you seen the allies in those boards? They are boring.

Good thing I haven't taken the bait and bought those games  evil
