My problem is that they show her to not have any empathy. Her "mourning" never contains any remorse for her daughter's death, even though it was clearly shown she was hard on her. So maybe that is the proof that she is "logical" she totally believes she was completely right as a parent.

Sorry Imp, sometimes I don't care about flashy effects, if it makes up for it in good storyline. I think you don't like it purely because you don't like the genre, but that would be a different comparison altogether.

Any other self-professed Caprica watchers here? This show in my opinion is knocking it out of the park as far as a good mix of drama, scify, and action... Hoping they get to more of the latter in "V-world" but otherwise I think I haven't quite found a first season that was this engaging and fresh in a while. Reminds me of the excitement I had the first season of Heroes, even that one has gone to hell... I'm hoping they can keep this one out of the gutter.

I have played it online too, and yes it is much better live. Part of the experience is seeing that big of a board in front of you. Plus having real faces to match to opponents is engaging.
7 might be a bit young. There is a settlers of catan board game for younger audiences to get them used to the ideas put forth in catan. I've never played it but it's an idea. I've heard it's good...

I got a 2007 model Macbook Pro for about $1000 on ebay. I specifically sought one out with an active warranty on it, so you might be able to find something even cheaper. It is a great system too, usually above 2 GHz processing speed and plenty of Ram. Depends on if you're into apple because the game selection is not as wide, but I've found it to be relatively open as far as options...
I'm an Apple fan, you can probably tell. If you're used to windows and don't want to change, I used a dell from 2007 to 2009 and I found their laptops to be pretty solid both in make and what it could do. Very all around feel to Dell for me, not specialized but definitely will give you a bang for your Canuck buck...

OK, now that is just plain awesome. That beats out any recent medieval recreation I've seen! I'd volunteer to work on it. It does look slightly out of place considering it's environment, but maybe my cultural views of castles are too shaped by hollywood.
To top it off though they need to expand it out and make a town, just like there would be...
