Events

The other day I received the following news from Greg Smorey, Axis & Allies Tournament Game Master:

I would like to take just a moment, maybe a long moment, of your time and bring everyone up to speed on the latest and greatest from the Axis & Allies Convention World.

The first item on the addenda is the Spring Gathering VII, set for April 17 & 18 in Cincinnati, Ohio. There have been several questions regarding the AA tournament format as well as which game will be played, AAR or AA50. The answer is Revised. Since AA50 just came out, it is hard to establish a good format for a tournament this early in the game. The SGVII will be a good play test run on the playability of an AA50 tournament format for the rest of the year but for now, the SGVII tourney is Revised. There will however, be an AA50 tournament at Origins and GEN CON run by myself under whatever format we come up with in the meantime.

After I bought my copy of the Axis & Allies Anniversary Edition game [Amazon], I took a few moments to take some photos. So far my impression is that the game is huge and has a lot of high quality pieces and components. Read the rest of the story to view the rest of the photos. In some cases I put a deck of card in the picture so that you can get an idea of how big it really is.

A&A Boardgame News
The folks at Field Marshall Games have created some great dice that are specifically themed for use with World War II board games. The dice fit in perfect with any Axis & Allies or other WWII game. Each die has familiar World War II markings in place of the 1. The set that I received included dice representing USSR, Germany, UK, Japan, and USA. I've been informed that soon to be produce will be dice for both Italy and China. Read the rest of the story to see more picture. Otherwise, go to Field Marshall Games to order your set of dice. You can also get a free dice bag on large orders with Field Marshall Games
